What will MLS do with Diego Serna and Alex Peneda Chacon?. Will they come back?. They made big cash $$$ last year. But, just wondering since they had a extremely bad season last year. Will they come back to sub for New England. Colorado or Dallas come be the promese land for a guy like Alex Pineda Chacon. As far as Diego, ohhhmmmmmmmm, I dont know if MLS is bringing him back at all.

Surely Twellman messed things around for Chacon. I heard that Chacon is getting a big paycut check and will be sent to his old boss in DC United. Mr Hudson. He loves to play for him. This trade will make sense to me.

Hudson has his eyes on former Fusion Rooney...don't see why he wouldn't consider Chacon and/or Serna for his forward line.

(hell...i wouldn't mind a DC renaisance with an ol' Fusion twist)

This sounds great. Serna/Chacon = Rooney will bring back DC. Like you said, a DC United's Renaisance.

While I think the Revs would love to rid themselves of Rooney and Pineda Chacon, Diego Serna is a different story. The Revs definitely want him back, and view him as an ideal partner for Taylor Twellman.

I think Rooney ends up in DC within the next few weeks, and Chacon will have to choose betwen riding the bench in New England at $200 per year, or taking a pay cut so that he is tradeable.

The rest of the league better start wearing some Depends...looks like Ray's reassembling his sh**kickers...heck, I might even end my estrangement from this league and follow DCU. Even defunct, the Fusion still seem to be the talk of the league...not sure what this says for the league.

This pisses off the average MLS fan because...it's a valid point....you'd like to think your franchise is immune from future contractions, eh?

    History...you cant erase history.

FUSION 2001 was great, was a jewl, was style and
class...you can never erase that. We are left with
a legacy...and MLS, Garber & Cronies Ltd. cannot
    duplicate that legacy.
Fusion was .....the Lads, Hudson, Lockhart, the
Strikers ghosts, the local fans, the weather, "the beers & hooters, the late night cigars and beers on the beach" ***
    ***Hudson

Fusion had no help or nothing to do with the likes
of GarberNFLMLS, Horrorwitz, Hamilton & Co.

If, Hudson gets Pablo there also, then I may start watching DCU games.

Leca, Honestly I think that MLS and Garber made a big mistake by contracting the Fusion. Tampa I understand, they were a big mess in a big NFL Stadium. I've been to some Fusion and Internation game at Lockhart in the past. I had a great time there. The Fusion was a team that slowly was building a big fan-based team. In 5 years, the team would have probably move to the Orange Bowl because it was going to be too small at Lockhart. Good luck and I hope that Garber bring the Fusion back within a few years.

Imagine if Horowitz actually tried to promote the club in the area!! And I don't know how good of a businessman Horowitz is/was if he couldn't find corporate support within the community.

It's almost a year to the date they took our team away. And while I still support MLS because of rammifications to our National Team, it still makes me DAMN angry about what happened.

If I see Horowitz in the parking lot before the US/Canada match, I may have to drill a free kick at his head!! (kidding, of course)

Fusion is still mentioned by many, and not only
by loco'ls... they were amazing to watch, specially
after Hudson took over.. the fan base was growing
they played in a true SSS, but I cant only look at
Horrorwtitz beeing at fault!! As long as MLS looses
15 mil in other venues, with some places loosing
more than it took to operate the Fusion,,, then
something is wrong with the system (MLS).

Fusion was among the teams that was loosing least
but Horrorwitz was the big baby, and the "poor"
baby of the investor family. He could not dish out
the dow to keep the league running in other places.

So lots of blame falls on the structure and the image that MLS is trying to portray. Example being
NY with 6 mil in loses and 16-17 k averages..
so... MLS rather loose 6, mil with 17k fans, than
500k with 11k fans, for the image of being in NY,
    acctualy NJ.
YES, they need presence in the
large markets, but the whole stucture and leadership of the league is very questionable. They
claim long term viability, yet they make quick fix,
    short term decisions.

It is very clear with out a SSS it will be very hard
for any team to make money..there were only 2
soccer stadiums in MLS and Lockhart was 1 of them.

I recall the first game in refurbished Lockhart that was nationally televised. A great crowd, (looked sold out), a sunny day and a pretty good game. Too bad MLS and Horowitz couldn't pull it off because the 2001 Miami Fusion had to be one of the finest teams ever to grace the league and could well be doing it today had they kept it together. The Miami Fusion contraction is a black mark in MLS history and needs to be corrected ASAP IMO.

The first game was indeed a sell out. The only sellout in Fusion history I believe. 20,450.

I think the point about him being the little guy (and not just the fact that he'd look Ritchie Williams in the knee caps) was an excellent one. He lobbied HARD to get the team contracted from what I understand, saying there was no way for the market to support the team. He could have taken on a partner, but didn't look into it. He wanted out of being an owner period. The odd thing is, according to him anyway, is that he is still an 'investor' and I believe still owns the franchise rights to South Florida. I just suspect he's trying to make himself seem like less of a bad guy.

I still don't understand why the hell you contract before the World Cup!!! The Fusion had two players on that team, one of which emerged as a rising star. Heck, some of the marketing could have taken care of itself.

One year later, and all we're left with is 'what ifs' and 'could have beens'.

How'd this thing get so off topic?

I think if Niccol can handle Diego's temperament and Serna plays to his potential that he and TT would be good up top.

Chacon needs to leave. Maybe he was just a one season wonder, but he needs a coach who will give him a shot to prove himself. How you go from MVP to barely a bench player in twelve months is beyond me. Can't just be Alex's fault. I'd like to see United give him a shot or Dallas.

And please, keep the Miami Fusion rants off of here, guys. It is so old. In 12 months not a single one of you has been able to prove that cutting operating costs in half for the entire league by eliminating two teams out of twelve was a bad thing. Look at the Florida market people. WNBA is running out of town. MLB seems to want out of there. Every mainstream article on the market details how bad it is for pro sports overall. So get over it.

And Fusion FC seem to get better in your memories. Let us not forget that they didn't make it to the finals. They may have won the Supporter's Shield in 2001, but only by goal differential as Chicago Fire had the same number of points. I won't say they weren't a very good squad, but not near the best in MLS history.

I see Serna either staying in New England or leaving (can't imagine another club giving him a chance if he can't work there) and Chacon moving to United (possibly Dallas, but probably not likely).

here is my 2 cents worth

1 cent... you are correct, we are a bit off topic,
so ! all Fusion supporters, and SFL Bashers
    go to this thread

    https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&postid=560179#post560179

2nd cent....the rest of your statement is RUBISH

We had great support for our soccer teams, and
    stats are on our side.
Ft Lauderdale Strikers, out of Lockhart, grew and
    died (proportionate) with the league...
We were in the top 10 markets always.
we averaged over 12K fans with consistent 12K+,
    13K+, 14K+ averages.

AND here is the CLINCHER... the area DOUBLED in
    SIZE...the DEMOGRAPHICS changed from blue
heads to a more younger, and also a larger imigrant population, and youth soccer is 2nd to none, in the nation.

Soon, wi'll have all the facts on the MLS/Horrowitz
    blunder at Lockhart SSS.

    on the topic
.....Chacon is a very talented player, like most
good players he needs the right team and coach
to fit in a certain formula or style.

....Fusion 2001, was ROBBED in the playoffs, red
cards, unwarranted, I was there I seen it !
Bish, Serna, Torres, and a couple more.
