What Will Freddy do...

    ...When's the dang kid gunna get citizenship, and will he be training with anyone during the next few international tournies that the u-17s go to that he can't participate in?

    Well FIFA is likely going to change the cap-tie rules such that players under the age of either 18 or 21 who have not played for the senior national team in a WCQ, WC finals game, or confederation championship (like the gold cup or copa america) will not be considered cap-tied.

    Freddy is 9 1/2 years younger than Michael Owen - and Owen was considered very young at France '98. I would expect, given the change of rules, that Adu would not likely be cap-tied until the first Gold Cup after Germany '06.

    I suspect we'll have a better feel by then whether or not he's the real deal.
