I'm guessing this is the closest forum for this thread so... My co-workers call me "Old Man". I have one of those weekly vitamin holders with the large 'M' 'T' 'W' etc. I take: Ginseng Ginko Biloba E B C Centrum Cranberry Extract Glucosamine It comes out to 15 a day, it takes me about 32 oz. of water just to finish it all! Anyone else? Any recommendations?
just c baby - the rest i get from my food - if i feel like i might get sick tho i slam some enhanced A&E V8 every morning and night and im not above some B12
And you're going to be in better health for it when you are an old man. I take... a multi, B complex, Vitamin C, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Calcium with Magnesium and Vitamin D added, Iron, Potassium, 5-Hydroxy-Tryptophan, Glucosamine, Siberian Ginseng (sometimes), Dandelion Root (sometimes), Milk Thistle, Gotu Kola, r-ALA, and L-Tyrosine. Basically whatever it is I'm positive I don't get enough of from food, and some osteoporosis-preventative, liver-protective, and blood sugar management stuff.
Men's multivitamin once a day. I eat a load of fruit and vegetables ever since I was diagnosed with high BP and bordeline diabetes. I might consider glucosamine as I get older.
I take some vitamins (3 times per day) called "More Than A Multiple" by American Health Corporation. The doses are mega-doses and I know the body can't process excess quantities of vitamins but these vits make me feel great so I stick with them. Try them out.
GNC Mega Man (a men's complete multi) GNC Tri-Flex (Glucosamine, chondriotin, msm) Twin Labs Amino Fuel
Funny, my former co-worker (Stogey23) used to call me "Old Man". I take GNC Mega Man and drink a lot of juice and eat banana's whilst at work (Stogey, I've managed to keep the fruit fly's away).
I took pretty much everything growing up, because my Dad's a nutrition freak. I used to warn my friends that if they met him, that was one of 3 topics (politics and railroads being the others) that they should never mention because he would never stop talking. For the last 25 years, he's also done the direct sales thing for the company whose vitamins he worships (I wonder if he knows that they were bought out by a Brazilian conglomerate a couple years ago?). Anyhow, I moved out back in the 80s, so it got a lot more complicated and expensive to use the ones he sold, so I've tapered down quite a bit. Now I just take folic acid (because I'm on a prescription drug that blocks the absorption of folic acid) and I take vast quantities of C from time to time as a preventitive/treatment for the sore muscles that are inevitable when an un-athletic 40 year old plays soccer.
Have you tried vitamin E as well for this? 800-1200 IUs daily in divided doses are popular in weightlifter circles as a cure for DOMS (Delayed-Onset Muscle Soreness).
Never have, but I'll definitely keep it in mind. Is DOMS the soreness suddenly appears 24 to 36 hours later, just when you thought you'd gotten away with something?
Anyone ever try Sea Silver? Heard an ad for it on the radio that seemed to imply it was the best nutrient in the history of man, but of course that's why it's called marketing.
Yes, that is textbook DOMS. Depending on the degree of microtrauma to the myofibrils (in other words, how injured the individual muscle fibers are), DOMS may last from 24 hours up to a week (!). Vitamin E should greatly cut down on that time.
Has anyone ever tried Sea Silver? A friend of mine is highly recommending it. I'm getting bloodwork done next week because it seems that I've managed to damage my immune system again, and I'm so sick of it!!! I take a women's centrum, Preservision (macular degeneration in my family), and a zinc, c, and echinacea mix.
Is sea silver like a Colloidal Mineral kind of thing? If so, I hope your friend doesn't end up like this idiot.
http://www.consumerlab.com/index.asp If you all are serious about your vitamins, you might want to educate yourself on how useless many of the pills you're putting in your body are . . . Because I can tell you that many of the most popular brands (including brands people on this thread are taking) have a reputation for not actually having that listed dosage as well as including vitamins/minerals in forms that aren't really absorbable by our systems.
