There are those of us that really enjoy discussing soccer but there are also many it that group that wish to discuss only substantive issues, at least most of the time. There is little outside of the WC that is happening in the soccer universe so the title says what my question is. I may have a heart attack from lack of substantive soccer talk at least on the women's side. I already feel the withdrawal and it will only get worse as time passes. I wonder, can you die from women's soccer withdrawal? I actually already miss the time when some leagues like MLS and NWSL played right through the World Cup.
W-League is still playing until the end of June. I think NextPro is playing through as well if you're really hungry.
The problem is that those leagues and some others I know of are very hard if not impossible to watch if you cannot go to matches. I do not get much out of match reports and I could never be one of the people that really understands a match from reading about it. I know some baseball fans that have not seen or attended a game in years but the love the game and seem to get more out of the stats that they ever could out of watching games. I could never be one of those even if soccer lent itself to such statistic heavy treatment, which it does not. I suppose I may find enough old replays and new matches on some of the more obscure sports channels, which I do have an abundance of, to keep me happy or at least content. (I have trouble with that word and I am not sure the correct spelling for this use is what I actually wrote.) There is at least a visible end to this soccer desert.
Euro and South American women's world cup qualifiers on Friday (6/5) and next Tuesday (6/9), some of the matches are usually televised or streamed.
Both those have most all the games streaming online for free. It's too bad WE is done for the year, but Nadeshiko is playing through as well and they have some games online. There are others here who probably know more about it than me. When your location is "near the mountains" that's always an option.
NWSL only back July 3. The one discussion I would like to make is after what looked like street gang warfare, will Brazilian & American players will be able to put their differences aside & go back to playing together as cohesive team mates? Also considering that KC’s Bia & Orlando’s Marta & Angelina had very nasty things to say about the US, why are we paying them professional salaries then? otherwise in an league which has shown that missing just one important player will often lead to downfall, got the feeling current league leaders San Diego will see tumbling down the table—it’s happened to Angel City after the Jonsdottir & KC’s slow start without Chawinga
Dude, relax. They were commenting post a very emotional match in which they came out not only on the losing side, but lost tactically as well. And it is a rivalry. And it was on their home turf. And did you see Rodman's video (Instagram? TikTok?)? That video was just as bad as anything else. But it's part of the rivalry. But these players are professional and will get back to playing professionally. They may not have been friends before, and may not be friends after, but they'll get back to playing in a professional manner. I've seen these same comments on X and Reddit, and now here. Do people not think they can't get over their emotions? That they can't move beyond their immediate fefes? And the more I think about it, it's a disgusting sentiment (from everyone) to suppose they can't. I don't think San Diego will tumble, but they will lag. They have a very good and well rounded squad and should stay towards the top of the table.
