I have to be honest, I dont follow the mens game at all, my wife actually got me hooked on wonmens soccer, so I dont have much perspective on the overall soccerability of the Philly area. I know that there are youth soccer leagues all over the greater Philly area, but I dont know how that translates into the mix.

For sports in general, Philly has to be one of the only cities on America that has every major sports team plus a lot of minor sports teams (except mens soccer) Phillies, Eagles, Sixers, Flyers, Phantoms, Sol, Wings, Charge, Kixx, plus a ton of High School and college sports teams. Its no wonder that soccer cant make inroads here, we are saturated with sports.

Id have to think that if Man U breaks another attendance record this summer, and a suitable owner could be found that Philly deserves a shot a a mens team. It would be nice because that might help the womens team stay here if they start up again. Do like the DC teams do with doubleheaders and cross promotions.

Oh well. Lamenting the fact that Im probably not going to see the TIMBer line, Pichon, Smith, and the rest of the team ever play together as one team again.

Well, the 2005 Womens Euro championship is in England.

Start saving now, and make a little trip across the pond.

I suspect Smith and Pichon would be thrilled to see some fans in their Charge jersey/gear at the matches.
