what is going on at FSW....
I tuned into my PPV match on sunday...
a huge derby game Liverpool v Everton...

and my commentators are Christian (8yrs old)Miles
and Nicky (im a common englishman) Webster..

at first I thought.. ok .. its a one-of maybe audio
problems... at one point the audio of the twi feed
came in and I heard Ian Darke....so Ok...Ill just
    deal with these amateurs....

Then today.. I pop in the tape of the Tottenham
Man City game... and once again... Webster and
    some Spanish guy....

WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING FSW!!!!

you have the TWI feeds... use them!... why are you
choosing amateur commentators that blab at the
mouth over commentators from the host nation that
have over 20-30 years of experience....

Give me a commentator at the grounds that knows
what the hell is going on...

I prefer British commentators, but ones that have
applied their trade and have experience and have
a grasp of the english language. Webster is
annoying... every time he mention the "pool" I
wanted to cringe.. It goes to show the naysayers that an english voice can be just as annoying

If this is what they are going to offer... I wont
get the PPV package next year...they are THAT
annoying... Id rather listen to the Internet
    Broadcasts....

I know its slow during the holidays... but get them
to clean up the office instead of hitting the
    commentary boothe.

Unbelievable! I actually had to turn the sound off. Today's match (ManCity:Spurs) was possibly the most annoying broadcast I've heard in a while. No, sorry, that's probably overstating it since there have been innumerable annoying matches on FSW. I remember trying to watch the Liverpool:FCBayern match a couple of years back when they had two announcers (the tiresome Bretos and some other dude) who apparently tired of actually doing play-by-play (admittedly, it was a boring match with nobody in the stands in Monaco but they were still horrible). Plus, there is just about every Bundesliga match when I have to totally block out Hopkins' voice from my ears. I can't even remember anything that's said in those matches anymore.
Today's was brutal. I missed the first half and when I turned it on, the Latin guy (I forget his name and where he's from) was trying to explain something in a very halting English while the play kept moving on and on...and on. For a moment, I was wondering if I had the wrong audio selected. From what I heard, the English dude seemed to know what he was doing but his voice was so weak I had to stop listening. I can't believe they've done this and ESPECIALLY to the PPV matches. That's deplorable. I can't imagine the original voices being that cost prohibitive. It took me a LONG time to get over the loss of the original voice of the Bundesliga (whose name escapes me at the moment...Toby Charles???) and I can't imagine getting over this...EVER.

"Boo Hoo"??? What're you...9? And, by the way, I do call my own matches and have been in the biz for over 20 years, so, nah-nah-na-nah-nah. These guys are terrible. Plus, as I wondered before, how much money can they be saving???

I clicked on this thread expecting a fantastic rant about Fox Sports World, and my ranters were Cantona and Fohlen61! At first I thought, ok, maybe the thread will just get better, but no! And talk about Amateurs! Geez, Cantona only has about 200 posts, and Fohlen61 only has 3! If this is what passes for quality rants these days, I don't think I'll be getting the Premium membership!

I know it's slow during the holidays... but get them
to clean up the office instead of hitting the
    bigsoccer boards.

How does hiring two people to talk over commentary (already provided by the League) save money?

They were already on the payroll. Tell them to do 4 games a week instead of 3.

FSW shows us Americans more EPL than they show in England, so you were lucky to be watching the game to begin with. But you do have a point about the Spanish guy for the ManCity/Spurs game. I swear he kept saying Tottingham. But I sat throught it and was annoyed and cringed every time I heard him say Tottingham, then I thanked FSW for showing the match.

Turn down the volume of it bothers you that much.

    Rochester NY, but or
Americans have no idea how a well game is annouced so i don't see why they are responding. I definetly agree with Cantona and the others that FSW should be using British feeds for their broadcasters. Turning the volume down and what ever the hell you said was just the dumbest sh!t i'v ever heard in my life.

i agree turning down the volume is idiotic..
commentators are supposed to enhance the game,
but when you have these idiots calling the game
    it detracts from it alltogether...

they have the TWI feed.... there is no reason
    to use these idiots.....

The TWI feed is shown all around the world
in africa to australia... and they use the british
TWI crew... so why does the US have to put up
with a rambling englishman that sounds he just
left the pub and 8yr old sounding Miles or the
hispanic guy? Where is the logic?

whoever the idiot mentioned about the # of posts
i make.... what the hell has that to do about
anything...... i dont spend my life on a computer
not like half the 18yr olds on this board... i only
participate in this forum because it can be a source
of good information regarding viewing football. This
is not a rant... I am questioning a business
decision of FSW to use amateur commentators..

these guys do not measure up to the knowledge
and experience of the TWI crew...

Why try to fix something that is not broken?

I agree with not using Miles for EPL games...and the other guy was horrible in the Liverpool-Everton match.

It was so bad, that in the bar in philly that i was watching the game at (the Dark Horse), i heard the other 15-20 or so people mentioning that they haven't heard such shite commentary for the EPL in years...

(I don't want to go on a tangent about Tommy "Manure is the greatest team ever. even before football was invented" Smythe, Ty "my dad was on that U.S. 1950 team that beat England" Keough, and of course, the infamous Jack-ass "climb the ladder, thread the needle, the game is on, me eyes have seen the glory" Edwards do for US, MlS, and UCL games....ya know what crap commentary ahead of time with those calls, so one is prepared for lameness there.)

And for those who say "quit complaining and turn the volume down", I reply, would you do the same for NBA, NHL, NFL and other American sports if you heard lousy commentary??? Honestly, would you really?? I didn't think so.

Could it be that they didn't want spoilers? I would think that the live announcer for Everton-Pool mentioned when the goal was scored in Blackburn-ManU.

BTW, the guy they had doing the German games last year SUCKED HARD!!! "Tomas Rosicky, 21 years of age and a X million dollars transfer, is tackled by Tony Sanneh, the American transfer from Hertha Berlin. But it's taken away by Jan Koller, 28 years of age."

If there was a game show based around knowing the ages and transfer fees for BL players, this guy was a gold mine. Otherwise, he SUCKED HARD!!!

I often watch NFL matches without sound, not usually because of the crappy commentators, but because of all the commercials. I guess I am just used to having to tune out or turn down crappy announcers, but i can follow the game fine, and usually better, than with those blithering idiots confusing things. Honestly, when the US plays, I usually spend a good portion of the game incredulously questioning most of what comes out of Jack and Ty's mouths, which is a distraction form the game.

Turning down the volume is no more idiotic than bitching incessantly about the announcers.

I'm as big a supporter of American soccer and American announcers as there is. But, for FSW the ability to use English commentators for EPL games is an asset that enhances their broadcast. I too was very disapointed by their decision to not use the English feed.

I paid a ton of money for the PPV package this year, if the company continues to use the American announcers I won't next year. Simple as that.

The question would have to become, will they gain more viewers and subscribers by using American announcers then they'd lose? I doubt it.

    What the Hell FSW

I am also bothered by the switch to FOX's own announcers for the EPL games. I basically agree with Cantona's arguments. There is nothing wrong with demanding the best product available, especially on the PPV games. I suggest like-minded individuals E-mail FSW with their protests...maybe they'll listen.
P.S. why can't we get the English pre-game and half-time shows on the subscription EPL package. BTW, I am a proud American, its just that the English do a better job of presenting the match.

Please. If it wasn't for the mute button, Rick Sutcliffe would have caused me to gouge my eardrums out with a screwdriver a long time ago.

My trick for inane baseball commentary (which never ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever pauses for even a millisecond), is to use the SAP button. Now all the inane babbling is done in a language I do not comprehend, and becomes more like the park's background noise than anything else. I suppose FSWespanol would work just as well.

    seagroves;
I dont usually respond to idiot's responses but
your immature, ignorant reply that made me laugh
to tears... warrants a reply directly from me to you.

are you 12 years old?... dont quote someone
and then make it seem like you are demeaning
them without a strong case.... your responses
are some of the weakest I have ever seen on this
board... reread your reply.... you look like
an idiot.... people are laughing at you...

you make no sense.... keep to the issue at hand
    and respond intelligently...

    you wrote:

Oh how the mighty have fallen before the fickle masses. First it was Jack Edwards, now former FSW darling Christian Miles is put to the sword. Run for your lives Ty and Max, they'll turn on you too.'

the man never said England was better than
America ... he just said that the production
quality of their telecast was better than FSW..
I dont know your rational or understanding of your
"stupid" inclusion of the french farmer analogy in
your wayward response... The man said he was
an American .. and just admitted that he thought
the TWI broadcast was better.... what is the
    problem...

dont know... let me tell you...
you are about 14yrs old and your whole football
experience is from ABC and ESPN... you have never
seen a good football broadcast....and your only
experience with world football is FSW...so you
think Bretos, and Miles are kings of broadcasting..
they have only been doing pBP for over five years
yet you think they are the kings of us broadcasting
    .........get a life jr......

if you cant tell a quality broadcast....
then you.... yes you..... are the stupid one...

the EPL is on FSW for one reason and one reason
only... due to the PPV revenue... you have these
idiots calling the games... then you have the
punters in the pubs pissed off...... and yes...
the reason FSW is successfull is due to one thing
FSW coverage of the EPL... which goes hand in
hand with the commercial selling of the EPL to
pubs which makes it profitable... you have these
idiots calling games.... the expat population will
look to other avenues to find a quality broadcast
..and in this day and age... live on the net is not
    bad at all.......

so you want your EPL... keep the TWI team..
if not... you wont see FSW in the near future.
its the cash cow that keeps the channel going.
