We all saw the end of Brek tonight so let's prepare for the transition. I think we can assume Brek's form and contract will keep him in MLS but to which team? I assume LA and NY could make money appear but are there any others? As far as FCD is concerned, are there any teams that have tradable assets that would work for both teams? I wouldn't be surprised if the blowup was planned and Brek's agent had a team lined up already. Look for a quick transfer.
Don't take me the wrong way. Brek is a very talented and capable player. The real issue is he is unpredictable and inconsistent. Any coach will think twice before opening arms. As a coach I would rather have a mediocre player that I can rely on then someone like Brek. Even last year Brek a MLS MVP runner had a roller coaster performance. On a defensive note, J Klinsman did gamble on him many times.
After watching SH give away talent from this team since he arrived, you still want to stick with that statement? If Shea is still playing in MLS come the start of 2013 it will not be with FCD, especially if SH is still driving the bus.
I don't see him going anywhere in MLS. I'd say FCD, or bench warming for a mid-table Spanish or German team (or D2... I'm sure 1860 would love to have him...) I don't know if anyone in MLS is willing to take the under-performing/ego combination. I see him sticking around with FCD.
My statement was geared towards a notion that we would trade/sell him to another MLS club. It doesn't matter who's willing to take him in MLS, we aren't stupid enough (hold your jokes) to sell him to any team in the league. Now, shipping him off to Europe so he can sit on the bench somewhere and pout, that's a possibility. Although unlikely, considering his form in 2012.
Right, and let's also consider that he's the "face" of FCD, and his is "the" MLS commercial right now... I think the price tag MLS would put on him would be more than it's worth to most European clubs.
Don't place bets on him starting on Saturday either as he's definitely in SH's dog house, and rightfully so.
Just like in all sports, there is a team and/or coach out there that thinks they can get the full potential of a malcontent to come through. It's just a matter of offering enough in return (which based on history is not much) for SH and the team to accept a trade. After last night's display, the Brek - SH relationship is beyond repair. If SH stays, Brek is gone.
One thing I do like about SH is how good he is at not saying things... "I think it's better that I don't make any comments about [Shea's] performance..." lol
I don't think MLS would price him out of a Euro move at all. In fact quite the opposite. I think they would take anything they could get right about now. What's keeping him from a Euro move is his crap form. I think part of his problem is that in Dallas he is expected to be the go to guy and he is struggling mightilyand you get a situation like last night. A move to a club where he would be a piece of the puzzle and absolutely not the go to guy would probably help him.
LOL. You know this isn't the first time a player and coach have got into it before, right? This is far from "beyond repair." I seem to remember a certain coach of the Earthquakes in 2005 (so basically, Houston) pulling that punk Robinson for sucking early in a match at the Cotton Bowl. Robinson pulled a fit about it too and Kinnear spinning around to just rip him a new one. Yeah, their relationship was DONE at that point....oh wait....
Kinnear and Hyndman are 2 totally different coaches. One knows how to man-manage a team, the other doesn't
To answer the question, it'll be a team that can tolerate a brat who can top his inconsistent performances with the occasional suspensions for on-field petulance and pout when he is given feedback that he has not in fact been Pele, Maradona, and Best rolled into one.
Well... At least he learned. FCD, and I think he's figuring it out. Positive spin: his little freakouts are growing pains into maturity
lol I love it when I hear 18/20/22 years old trying to figure out maturity in pro sports. Not too long ago, the life expectancy of people in London was 35 years for the richer ones, and only 25 years for the less affluent ones!
Brek will do awesome once he's out from under Schellas' thumb. Bus driver is crap. I guarantee you half the coaches in MLS would give an arm and a leg to get Shea.
Serious question to the FCD faithful ... is this a question of if or when Shea would be on the trading block?
If you look at the Chinese coach's tenure you'll see that any player falling out with him was traded. Go look at the "fire Schellas Hyndman" thread for the list.
