I know some of you really could care less about thoose cheesy bobbleheads - but I'd like to put together a comprehensive list of players who have been 'immortalized' as bobbleheads. 2004 - Any one hear who they will be doing this year? I'm going to guess Adu for DC. 2003 - Taylor Twellman - New England Revolution Oscar Pareja - Dallas Burn Carlos Ruiz - L.A. Galaxy Colorado Rapids San Jose Earthquakes Kansas City Wizards Chicago Fire Columbus Crew Metrostars DC United 2002 - Jason Kreis - Dallas Burn Cobi Jones - L.A. Galaxy Colorado Rapids San Jose Earthquakes Kansas City Wizards New England Revolution Josh Wolff - Chicago Fire Brian McBride - Columbus Crew Clint Mathis - Metrostars DC United I seem to remember a Mamadu Diallo and an Eddie Pope too.
Here is the thread on the Adu bobblehead: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=101548 The other DCU bobbleheads are Etcheverry, Pope, Convey and Olsen.
MLS Bobbles I have: Earthquakes: Agoos, Donovan, Cannon, Dayak Galaxy: Cobi(2002), Cobi w/trophy(2003), Hartman, Bo, Ruiz Rapids: Valderamma Wizards: Meola, Preki Dallas: Kreis, Pareja DC United: Convey, Etcheverry, Pope, Olsen Fire: Wolff Revolution: Twellman Metros: Mathis Crew: McBride (2002), McBride (2003) Mutiny: Diallo Bobbles I am missing: Stern John, coming-soon Adu
There are 2 versions of the Cobi and Ruiz 2003 bobbles. The Giveaway versions have on the base the Home Depot Center and National Team flags for each player--USA for Cobi, Guatemala for Ruiz, and Bo for Korea. The retail versions say new soccer nation on the base--though El Pescadito is similar except for the missing star on the HDC version, while Cobi has the teal/green jersey instead. Try http://www.thecrew.com and see if they have the Stern John for sale. Last season they were selling that and Friedel as part of a package. Cheers!
Thanks for the heads up on the Crew bobbles. I did not know Friedel was bobble-ized. I also did not know Brad had a lot more hair back then. The only problem is I already have two different versions of the McBride bobble. Do I really need another?
No prob. If you're at the Club Quake tailgate we can talk shop! There's that one (gold version) on the pic which is from 2002 and the newer version which is him wearing his black jersey that was sold in the Eurosport catalog. Of course, if you wanted you you can always paint the kit black to make it a rare item, or use the extra McBride for trade/gift raffle etc. Hope you were able to get them at thecrew.com--Brad is probably the most prized in my collection, next to the Joe and Cowboy Troy of course. Cheers!
I am looking for some of the wusa bobbleheads. I have Roberts and Wagner those are the ones I don't need. I need Mac, Lilly, Pichon, Siri If anyone is interested. I have Troy Dayek if anyone is willing to trade. you can pm me
Shannon MacMillan and Marianne Pichon can be found on ebay for an affordable price. If there's none you'll have to be patient on those. I do know the San Diego Spirit was selling Mac for $15 when they were online. As for Lilly and Siri, be prepared to spend big bucks for those. It's ridiculous that they went for $250 and $150 respectively--only a Beatles 1964 edition in mint condition is worth that much (and I don't care for the non-soccer ones). I would appraise Lilly at the most $100, while Siri should be bought at $50-$70. Cheers!

Might as well throw this one out their. The Charleston Battery (A-league) have a Paul Conway bobble head from his 2001 league MVP year. http://www.charlestonbattery.com/shop_cdp.asp?categoryID=7
It's a bargain buy. Only $10, and worth adding. This is the only one of two from the lower divisions, the other one being a Chris Armas Long Island RoughRiders bobblehead and that head is rare. Cheers!
Ok who is this bobble of? Black player - #25 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=37793&item=4124387494&rd=1
I don't know who he is but it looks like he is about to "serve the ball" volleyball-style. I don't think he is a soccer player.
I want to know all you bobblehead collectors does it matter if you have the original box? does it matter? and whats the reasoning behind it?
Investment value. It's the old maxim that if you leave the bobblehead in the packaging intact the value is much higher. However some people like to display their wares so they just remove it from the box and show. It's like every other collectable where if you never removed the item from the box the monetary value is high.
To add: There are 2 versions of Freddy Adu. The stadium giveaway with him holding the ball (USSF sponsored), and the retail with him juggling the ball (it's also a bobbleball in addition to a bobblehead). (and a big thanks to guamster for noting DMB and Klein, and the retail link to Adu)... cheers!
You know - what I really want is a DEMA Kovalenko bobblehead - well maybe several, I'd like to break his leg and put him next to my Jason Kries and Oscar Pareja bobbles. And then use another one as a threatening presence to DMB. I'd save the others for use in the future. Anyone here able to get the DMB or Klien bobbles?
I was able to buy a DMB bobble through Ebay couple weeks ago. There are a couple DMB's up for bid right now. The Chris Klein give-away is this weekend. Good luck.
