I think Totti2Madrid is referring to the fact that Raul and Totti, while strikers, are more effective when they have a pure goalscorer -- a Ronaldo, Vieri, van Nistelroy -- to work off of, so that their passing can be used better. I think Totti-Ronaldo would work a little better than Totti-Raul, because Ronaldo attracts so much defense that Totti could sneak a shot or one of his chips in more often. As I said in another post, Totti would be a great signing because he can rotate in for Raul, Ronnie, and Zizou. I think he should be our top priority, along with Samuel and maybe Emerson.

Cambiasso to Inter is almost done, SoccerAge is reporting.

And I started another thread about us finally completing the Samuel deal. Hopefully SoccerAge has it right.

We will have news about the future players very soon. Florentino said yesterday to the journalists "Sólo puedo decirles que a partir del lunes o el martes anunciaremos bastantes cosas y habrá noticias. Que estén seguros que se adoptarán las medidas necesarias para volver a ilusionar a todo el madridismo". In English:"I only can says that from Monday or tuesday we will announce many things, it will be news. You must be sure that we will take the necessary measures to return the happiness to all the real madrid supporters (Madridismo)"

The rumours are that the club could announce the next monday or tuesday: The dismissal of Quieroz (the team will have to pay him 0.8MEUR), Camacho as new manager and Samuel as new CB. But it could be more news because "we will announce many things" it is a very strong message for the usually very careful Florentino. He could have more names ....

It seems that Camacho wants Luisao (Brazilian CB of Benfica). He isn't a new name, because the last summer he was one of the options that RM studied finally signing Milito. Luisao is young, tall (1.93cm) and for his good play with benfica he has been called to play with Brazil 1st team.

Last declarations of Totti: "I always have said that Real MAdrid is the greatest dream of all the players in the world. For me, to wear the jersey of a italian team diferent to Roma would be unbearable". Totti belong to the most genuine specie of player ( a specie in danger of extinction). Players that really love/loved their clubs, that are loyal to theirs clubs.Players like Raul, Butragueño, Michel, Sanchis, Redondo, Camacho, etc that said that they would never sign for a rival team or even for other team in Spain. Diferent of players like Morientes that said the last week that he won't have problems to play with Barcelona if RM sell him.

No argument with this statement. But the point remains. Perez and co. were not convinced Milito was going to be a star, or they would have pushed the transfer through in the first place. He had a good first season, not great, good. But isn't world class yet, and the question has to be asked why wouldn't Real pony up the money for someone who is instead of an unknown quality at this level?

ESPN reported that Morientes is set to join Chelsea for 12 million pound. Meanwhile, footballtransfer reported that Morientes said: "We are slowly coming to an agreement and we can say the deal is 90% done.
"I really like the idea of joining that club but finalising the contract could take longer than expected."

And on Walter Samuel: Roma's Director of Sport, Franco Baldini: "We are currently considering more than one offer. "There are contrasting interests but we will have the last word on the move."

marca is saying that Real Madrid and Roma have agreed on a transfer fee of between 22 and 23 million euros, and all that remains is for Samuel to sign... They say he's likely to have a salary of 3,7 million euros. they say it may not be official until sometime around the end of May for whatever reasson - but lets hope it comes to pass. it's the first of several necessary steps to return Real to the position where they belong - on top.

Just heard on the radio that Beckham says that he's saying in Madrid and that Frank Lampard has signed?!?! Anyone know if this is true or is the radio talking out it's as$ again?

Beckham said he's staying, but I heard no news about Lampard and would be amazed if Real got him. I can't imagine Lampard leaving Chelsea, he'd cost too much and he's a fan favorite at Stamford Bridge. I don't even know how good he'd be; I'd personally rather have Emerson or XAlonso, both who are probably much better suited to LaLiga and Real.

i've seen a couple of rumours in English press about Lampard - not too much, but it's wierd that he should be one rumoured to be on their way out - he's been possibly their best player this season, imo. he was previously rumoured to be one his way to Italy.

Yeah i just read in the Italy forum somewhere that he's rumoured to go to Juventus in a trade for Trezeguet (sp?). I think he'd suit Real much better as, as much as i love Beckham, i prefer the short, along the ground, smooth passing that we used to have. I feel beckham put an end to this with his over extravegent, occasionally unnecessary long balls.

I have listened the news in three radios and i watched the news in two TVs. Anyway, here you have two links of the two most important sport newspapers in Spain Marca and As:

    Marca
    http://www.marca.es/edicion/noticia/0,2458,487081,00.html

It says that Samuel has signed for Real Madrid and that the final price has been 22 millions euros.

    As
    http://www.as.com/articulo.html?d_date=&xref=20040520dasdasftb_20&type=Tes&anchor=dasftbA00

It says the same, except the price 24 million €.

Here you have a great analisys about the new Real Madrid Centerback, Samuel "ill muro(the wall,it is nickname in italy)" and one of the best centerbacks in the world.

Just a round up of all Madrid related rumors/transfers.

First and most important it was on thr RM official website confirming the transfer of Samuel at the end of the season. This is the CB we have needed since Hierro left. This is a huge signing.

This article talks about Roma saying they want to hold on to Totti.

    http://skysports.planetfootball.com/article.asp?id=204325&cpid=21

This article is interesting b/c it mentions RM buying Totti and Zidane moving to Inter.

This article talks about Morientes possibly moving to Chelsea or Arsenal for around 12 million euros. Also it says at the bottom about Valencia being interested in Morientes saying they might offer Ayala in a swap deal.

    http://skysports.planetfootball.com/article.asp?id=204189&cpid=24

Also I saw on Tribal football, which isn't really that reliable of a site, but I thought I would throw this out there. The Real Sociedad president said he was contacted by RM about Xavi Alonso.

this is the best news ive heard all year. finally weve got the CB that we needed. this guy is for real, in my opinion, after Nesta, the best CB in the world, no offense to Ayala, Stam, Ferdinand, and Cannavaro. hes young, good in the air and commited to Real Madrid. he wants to be here. now then, there still is the matter of an impending physical, wink wink, yes yes................

This is great news. I'm glad its been made official, considering how many rumors swirl around about Real all the time (which we have nothing to do with here on BigSoccer... ;) ) A DMid, maybe another CB, and a Galactico like Totti and we will be all set...

Lampard has a Spanish girlfirend. I think that is how the rumors started. I read it in football transfer yesterday, but dismissed it as one of those "so-and-so" to Real Madrid rumors.

Samuel should set a chain reaction in the coming weeks. It sent a message to all the current players and player prospects that Real Madrid will solve their problems. I expect to some more players will commit themselves in the upcoming weeks.

-- Roma is now officially disbanding. Zebina has left for Juventus. Emerson will probably join Juventus or Real Madrid. It meant that Totti will also leave Roma. If he was honest about what he had said or Perez is serious about him, he has only one destination.

Personally I think Nesta is overrated....now now...don't all the italians line up to bash me.

Ayala is too old for my taste, I am not saying he is bad but that he isn't worth buying at his age right now.

To have Samuel in our team are great news for us. He is a extraordinary CB.

Bronzetti, one of the intermediaries in the operation said yesterday "Samuel could have sign for Chelsea, but when appeared RM, he didn't doubt any moment. Real Madrid has the prestige; Chelsea the money". Valdano said "It is has been a very hard negotiation because we have some very hard rivals that wanted the player. But the player wanted to play with us, that was a great help"

More news, It seems that RM could have reached an agreement with Roma about Emerson around 15 Millions €. The problem is that the agent of the player could have signed a contract with Juventus, that force the player to sign with Juventus or he will have to pay 1 or 2 Millions €. The relations between Roma and Juventus are bad in the last times, and this last "treason" have upset a lot the Roma management. Roma would see with good eyes that the player sign with RM instead of Juventus. IF this is confirmed, it would be great.

Real Madrid is/was playing with 3 options: Xavi Alonso, Emerson and Vieira. It seemed that the first option was Xavi Alonso but Real Sociedad wants 25 millions for him. Too much money for a great young player, but still without too many experience in big games/teams. Vieira is a guarantee but he will be very expensive and he is getting old. Emerson is another great player, and like Vieira is a total guarantee because he is a permanent player in the starting 11 of Brazil and Roma. He is 28 years old. If I have to choose between Emerson (15 M) and Xavi Alonso (25 M), i would choose Emerson. With similar numbers i would choose Xavi Alonso. Anyway, any one of these three players would be great for the team.

Maybe the rumours about Viera are related with what I have read in As and Marca … RM has a offer of Arsenal for Morientes of 24 Million €. It is a very good offer. Chelsea also wants the player but the offer is only 12 Million €. I think that RM shouldn't sell him for less of 15 Million €. But It seems that the player would prefer the Chelsea offer because his salary would be bigger.

The team have make a great signing with Samuel, if the next signings have the same level, we can have a real spectacular team for the next year.

I'd see the signing of Emerson instead of Xabi as a dissapointment, hopefully the contract that is signed with Juve will be enough to block that transfer and then Madrid will be back to negotiating with the real deal.

Don't be afraid to say the truth

Does Emerson have an EU passport? If he does not then I do not see how Madrid could consider buying him.
