A sports paper reported that the U-23 squad would join the competition as preparation for the Asiad. But KFA has denied the report, saying that such a proposal was made by a "sports marketing firm", but KFA turned it down due to scheduling issues... LG Cup is too close to the Asian Games.
I think what KFA is saying is that it doesn't make any sense to fly over to Tehran for prep. matches so close to Asiad when Asian games will be held in Korea. It would make perfect sense if the games are to be held in Middle East.
I think the same too. Iran, for instance, have be preparing for this for quite a long time whereas Korea's Asian Games squad isn't even announced yet. Players like Seol are refusing to participate in the Asian Games. Seriously, it's a meaningless tournament. Did you know that the Asian Games is not counted as an official A match?
