Go for Cisse now? sign Rivaldo? add Overmars? chase Larsson? get a pacy defender to play in the middle? and who would that be? and who should we look to sell? Diao? Cheyrou? not that you'd get a lot! What do you lot think?
Sometimes I think I'd be happy if the players we had were fit, maybe we wouldn't need to buy ny more. Always fun to speculate though. How 'bout Inzagi and Becks...?
It might be nice to have someone who was a threat on a free kick but Fancy Pants would be as bad as signing Robbie Savage.
If we can get someone with a bit of experience and who could do well on set pieces then do it (if the price is right). If not, leave it alone and see what happens when we have a fit first team.
Not much point in trying to spend huge when the squad has not had a chance to gel because of injuries. Of course a Gary Mac type signing would be nice.
Good to hear from you again, LF--hope all is well! Happy New Year to all. . . Oh, and on topic, GH says no moves in January: http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldown/N143237040102-1402.htm ----
I think LB (like all of us) is allowed to bear an unreasonable grudge toward Beckham because of his former Man United connections. I have to admit that I've ALWAYS liked him, though.
First of all, Beckham will always have a ManUre stink on him that all the designer perfume in the world won't eliminate. Second, I'm not an England supporter so what he does there is only of academic interest to me. Third, it must be noted that he's done well both with England and Real when he's been allowed to roam the middle of the pitch. Fourth, he's an outstanding striker of free kicks and that's a skill that is in short supply with LFC. It would be nice to have a player with that ability albeit not one with the ManUre smell. Finally, Beckham and his spouse are part of whats wrong with the Ben and J Lo-ization of football. Thank God that element has been cleared out of LFC.
Get Rid of Hesky and bring in Cisse or Kezman?? we dont need a indivdual like Rivaldo and it seems he's going to Brazil, but when The D gets Fit and the strike force. and bring in a better striker like Cisse or Kezman they'll be tough to beat and dont talk about david bekcham in the midfield he couldnt take Stevy G's or Haman's spot in his dreams
I think it might be a good idea to add a goalkeeper . . . http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldown/N143321040108-1106.htm ----
After concluding a half-season loan spell with Rennes, Gregory Vignal has joined Spanish bottom-club Espanyol until the end of the season. http://skysports.planetfootball.com/article.asp?id=180459&cpid=23
According to today's rumour sheet, Bolton manager Sam Allardyce is looking to sign Traore on loan until the end of the season. Considering Riise's form, it seems unlikely that Houllier would be willing to let him go. However, Traore himself may want to leave for more first team action.
I'm a big fan of Traore, so I hope he stays. But that bias aside, Carra is on his way back, and Riise has seemed to get as many opportunities (more, even) as Traore in Carra's absence. That does make Traore's position a bit unsteady. Carra can play multiple spots in the back-line, and I beleive that Traore can also play in the middle of the defense. That versatility, plus Riise's form, leads me to support the idea that Traore would be cover for Carra, when he's back, and Riise just wouldn't figure in the squad. I've stuck with GH this year against all of those "fire the gaffer!" threads because of the injury problems. That situation has been beyond Houllier's control. But what is under his control is stuff like this. Why we would be sending away a promising defender at this point--even on loan--is beyond me. ----
Even with Jari Litmanen, Stephen Wright, Nic Anelka, Titi Camara, et al firmly in the front of my mind, I just can't see GH deciding to loan out Traore with the idea that we'd be okay with Riise backing up Carra.
I keep hoping the same thing, and add to that list Markus Babbel, sort of (the irony of his involvement in Carra's accidental injury still sticks with me). ----
Um, er . . . yes, of course that's what I meant. I need a new keyboard, obviously. Thanks. BTW, did you hear that Steve McManaman left as Coventry City manager?? ----
Perhaps Milan are thinking of grooming Heskey to succeed Sheva. Oh man, I haven't laughed that hard in a while. This may be the funniest thing I've read in weeks. Thanks.
The same story is being reported by the Times. When Steve McClaren made his enquiry two weeks ago, I seriously doubted that anything would come of it. It seemed unlikely that Heskey would be allowed to leave in mid-season as his departure would have resulted in a striker shortage at Anfield. Now it appears that Cisse's transfer could be moved forward if Heskey exits the club.
