Last night GWB delivered perhaps one of his most concise and descriptive addresses from the oval office he has ever delivered.

Yet, silence on this board. Weird.

GWB has a press conference at 10:30 am today. This guy is making himself more and more available. Good for him and good for all of us.

You can only announce that you are going to spell out our strategy to the nation so many times before people lose interest/confidence.

The press conference should be more interesting as he is not very good with spontaneous questioning. I agree that it is good that he makes himself more available, but considering his dislike for press conferences, it smacks of a little desperation on his part.

I didn't watch. He's got nothing to say that I want to hear.

You don't want to hear the press go after him this morning? I'd figure that would be right up your alley

Listening now. Blah, blah, blah Constitutional authority blah, blah, blah.

The constitutional questions are certainly open. This will require some congressional hearings.

    Filibuster?

I know there was the potential for a filibuster on the Patriot Act, but it was simply defeated by an "up or down vote," no?

Why does he lie when he doesn't need to?

Discussing leaks helps the enemy. Good one George

If he actually gave a good, informative speech, I'm sorry I missed it.

But he's the boy who cried wolf on this, and has been for 6 months at least.

    No.

The cloture vote got something like 52 votes, which is really 53 because Frist voted against cloture so he could bring it up later.

Setp. 11 is the reason why he tapped phones. We need to move quickly to thwart terrorists. Nothing on doing the retroactive warrant.

His pregnant pauses made it sound like he was having triplets.

He's so freaking busted, but the press has not followed up.

Members of the press are more interested in being celebrities than being journalists. To risk their position by challenging power is too much to ask. How would they get a CNN or FOX show that way?

I listened for a few minutes. He used 'free' or 'freedom' four times in the same paragraph. I'll look forward to the Froomkin report later today.

I just can't watch Bush give the same damned speech every 2 days. Sorry.

How many times can you just say "I'm the president, according to the constitution, I have special magical powers in wartime." How many times can you say "sure, there are people who say that maybe we shouldn't have gone to war, maybe this war can't be won, maybe we made mistakes, but I'd do it again and stay the course" before people tune you out.

I don't know the number, but it was passed a week ago.

What was positive? Was there anything of substance in his speech that we haven't heard before?

Serious question by someone who didn't watch. The Bears were on afterall. :D

Was he referring to thin sliced potatoes, deep-fried and covered in salt?

I watched about 3 minutes of the press conference because I was waiting for the girl behind the hotel's front desk to reprogram my key cards. He was incoherent.
