No dousing this Fire - Chicago Daily Herald it's short, but it's sweet... and i think it's a strong compliment to what wilt and company have done... the fire may be losing money there, but they have converted a lot of people into being fans i think it may prove to have been the best thing the fire ever did... moving to naperville... as it has opened doors for the fire... and they're just starting to peer through -jim (also missed that one for today's news and this one: Despite Sponsorship change, Uniforms are still the same - Chicago Daily Herald)
If Naperville has so much love for the Fire why can they build a soccer specific stadium for the Fire with help from the city of Naperville if they are smart. A 25k Stadium will make money for everyone.
I didn't hear that. Are you sure that you didn't read that they called up Peter to see if they had been sent a copy of the RFP? That does indicate that they are provisionally interested, but I don't think it means they absolutely WILL make a proposal. Depends on the terms, I should think.
they said they hadn't gotten one, expected and expected to put out a proposal so no, i can't say they *will* present a proposal... but you would *imagine* that they will come up with a proposal
I'd like to know the answer: If Naperville is so lovey-dovey w/ the Fire why didn't the town arrange to move the track meets & paint over the grid lines this year?
They did paint, and painted last year. This seems to be a particularly virulent strain of SafePlay that resists whatever they put on it. I was down on the field early last week after the paint had been applied, and could see that it had been done. By Sunday, from up in the booth, it didn't look like it had been done at all. It's expensive, and not terribly effective (or so it seems), and so I guess the folks in Northern California will just have to endure another 11 games on the stuff before the Fire goes back to the Soldier Field grass that's always immaculately-kept by the Chicago Parks District.
Go Fire. Go ahead with your new stadium plan. I hate your team and love when u lose, but I cant deny the passion that endure around Cardinal and Soldier's Field Stadium. I's great
I really hope if they do bulid an SSS for the Fire that it is within decent distance of the city because even though they have gained many fans from moving to the suburbs they have also lost some of the fans that live in the city because they cannot make the trip out to Naperville. I mean its under an hour but i think that it should have as many connections as possible to public transportation within the city so... that people from the city can switch to a train, or a bus or something easily.
I think a downtown stadium would do much better as it's more of a central location that Naperville. There is no easy way to get to downtown Naperville. It's just way too crowded.
