Alright, I've been a soccer fan for years now, mainly supporting a foreign club due to the lack of any mls team in phoenix. However, I feel I've come to the point where i must support an mls team, but I can't figure out which one to support. I know it seems kind of poseurish to just randomly pick one, but I dont have a home team so its not like I have a choice. However, I really want to support the league, so i need a team. Any ideas?

The Galaxy. They're 400 miles away from you and with any luck you'll be able to catch a match or two at the Home Depot Center every year.

You're close enough to LA to consider it your regional team.

Of course, you can always pick some other team, and go to Home Depot to support them on the road.

Not to try to muddle the waters.

Buy the Shootout Package , watch as many games as you can and let the team choose you.

Or you could choose Dallas right now. Its similar to the mantra "buy low, sell high." We're low now.

Agreed. You just can't throw a dart at a map and say "bingo....favorite team!"

Unless the dart sticks near San Jose. You get another throw if it does!

I'm a die hard DC United fan. They've got the most trophies and have always been a fun team to watch stylistically as they always play attacking soccer ... even recently when we lose a lot.

But, being in Arizona, I'd say you should probably be a LA Galaxy fan as you'll likely be able to keep up with them well there and Sigi Schmid is a good coach. Their new stadium is going to be truly awesome, and MLS will make sure they get shown on TV a lot.

One frustrating thing about soccer is that it doesn't get that much media exposure. It's getting better every day, but don't expect to see the weekend's highlights on SportsCenter or anything. Being able to see your team on TV is a huge advantage when you live so far away from any MLS team. Of course, the Metros (Bob Bradley-best coach in MLS) are in the market that MLS is trying to prop-up, so they'll always get the most TV exposure.

Frankly, I'm not a fan of LA or Metros, but those two would be the most satisfying choices in terms of actually getting to see your team play.

    though question...

i think youi have a problem of age... here in Colombia, we born with a jersey in our beds... most of the times you become fan of the father's team or the older brother's team, it is just like osmosis...

Well, I live in Phoenix also. For a few years I just watched all the MLS I could and hoped that the game would be good-maybe I'd root for the underdog sometimes but I never really rooted for any team because there wasn't really a home team (I mean come on LA isn't a home team for Phoenix).

Then last year, I went to the Gold Cup games in LA. After one of the games, I went to a nearby bar and crossed a bunch of Riot Squad folks. They were very welcoming and I had a good time drinking a few beers with them. They invited us to future Galaxy games and even said they would pay for the tickets.

Those friendly folks were what made me decide to root for the Galaxy as a team. I still pull for certain plays even if they are playing the Galaxy, but now days when I buy MLS gear to show my support it is always Galaxy gear. I also hope to make a trip or two to LA this year to see game.

(and consider this copywrited by me! I hope this story will one day win me a LA Galaxy jersey off of MLS Wrap! If I don't win it I'll have to go buy the new one before the end of the season.)

Or you could be like me and be a neutral fan. I support MLS but do not have a home team so I root for all the teams to do well. I usallly just root for the home when I am watching a game. I plan to stay a neutral fan until (unless) North Carlina get a team.

Stick with Juve. As far as supporting a MLS team, pick whoevers playing the Galaxy and make HUGE MONEY bets against them. You'll be so rich you can fly to Italy and watch your favorite team play live.

DC the only attacking team that can go over 200 minutes without scoring a goal.

Does BigSoccer average one of these threads daily? The answer of course is D.C. United. Don't worry about why, just do it.

I've said it before (probably because we do get this question pretty regularly):

Columbus. What other city supports its club and country with equal passion? I don't remember other city's having outdoor community viewings that did so well..

    The team:
Attack-minded and young and old U.S. international talent. Now that we have a PDL team bringing in local boys, expect to see even more boys from the "Buckeye State" playing for the black and gold in the future.

And if Cleveland (or anywhere in Michigan, for that matter) hooks a team, look out for a rivalry that would mean much more than some trophy based upon the club's names.

    The Fans:

Die-hard and knowledgeble. Our attendance average isn't so high just because of brats!
No matter what MLS city the Crew play in, you can guarantee there will be at least a handful of Crew fans there, we're everwhere!

    The stadium:

Pretty much has been spoken for, but the fact they're still upgrading and renovating means that this team is here to stay, MLS or no MLS. Having Lamar Hunt as an owner never hurts...

    Consider that.
