Every time i look him i don't understand what he do on the field to be considered a world-class player.

His vision of the game is average more than once I have seen one of his teammates make a run behind the lines and see Iniesta ignore him, preferring to pass the ball to his teammates close to him. Its long passages in general are absolute shit and for sure he does not have a total vision of the game. His final product his tragic, very mediocre assistman and rarely scores a goal. And I think it's very difficult to be a mediocre assistman in a team with Messi , Suarez and Neymar. It's not even a player who controls the games like Xavi generally it acts only on its left side and is able to do only simple passes. I had some good moments in his career mainly because he always played the best team that has always dominated his opponent. When the team has had difficulty, I never saw him drag theme or very rarely. I've never seen him dominate a tournament. In his best tournament in 2010 he has managed to do 0 assists. I think that ultimately it is a collective player,
and that out of the collective of spain(barcelona), It would never be considered what is considered today.

Zidane had many attributes that made him world class no European player in history has more big goals in big games than Zidane the only other player I can think of is Gerd muller and he was a pure goal scorer.

I hope you are not insinuating that Zidane was not world class? that would be a first even by the very low standards of the Barcelona mob that has been running amok here.

Nope. I think he was a great player. Both he and Iniesta are ridiculously similar. I think they are both great players. Also Iniesta has a better big game record than Zidane. Much better. In fact Iniesta is probably the best big game player I can think of.

Gerd muller scored winner in a world cup final(1970)
Scored 2 goals in a euro final (1972)
Scored In a wc semi final (1970)
Scored twice in a cl final (1974)

Zinedine Zidane scored 3 goals in 2 world cup finals (98,06)
Scored in a wc semi final (2006)
    Scored in a cl final(2002)
Scored in a euro semi final(2000)

Iniesta scored 1 goal in a wc final 2010
Scored a great goal in a cl sf in 2010
And frankly in terms of goals scored I can't think of anything else perhaps you can fill in the gaps with some information that had missed me

In conclusion, a player must score goals in big games to be considered world class. Got it.

Pretty much what I was going to say.

    @carlito86
-Iniesta changed the 2006 final along with Henrik larrson,
-was one of the best players on the pitch in 09 final and provided the pass for Eto'O that changed the momentum of the game
    -WC winner in 2010
    - Basically was the man that ensured that Pep's era kicked off by scoring that winner against Chelsea in 09
    - Best player in Euro 12 and motm of the final
    - motm in Copa 16 final
    - motm in CL final 2015

Zidane was anonymous in 2 cls finals and cost his team WC 2006 final.

Most of his goals are also penalties.

Both of them are very similar and I wouldn't begrudge anyone picking one over the other tbh.

Even if that player is a midfielder... :p

I don't even think that defenders are safe. Next someone will be telling me that Cannavaro was average at the 2006 World Cup because of his lack of goals and assists.

*Hmm, this may be an interesting thread, a tactical critique of one the best footballers of the modern era*

*Iniesta? The best playmaker of his generation..? Perhaps Scanderbeg has him confused with Álvaro Arbeloa..? Let's read on.*
