the league and other organizations are in a no-win situation. Going back 2700+ years to the Grecian Olympics, sport and competition has always had a political implications. Ain't gonna stop anytime soon.
Charlotte vs Red Bull is god awful. Missing teammates sitting on the door step of the goal. These are play-off bound teams?
Not NYRD if they keep playing like that. I feel bad for Forsberg - he's like our Benteke, but with a slightly better roster.
According to Reddit, the drums and flags in the Chico Stand will be gone until the team is sold. https://www.reddit.com/r/DCUnited/comments/1myygbu/let_our_silence_speak/ Good luck with that one.
Jason has no shame so while the lack of cheerleaders in the crowd makes for a tiny bit of public embarrassment (because almost no mainstream media outlets follow DC or the league), neither he nor the other newer fans care.
100%^^^^ You'll never hear another drum in the supporter stand if they actually stick to this. The club is profitable, plus they get SUM off the MLS books, the club is appreciating in value and the real estate they own down there is just starting to come good. They're not selling any time soon.
Wow. I only knew what I saw on the field. The article has him at 32, his soon-to-be-ex-wife at 31 and said they had been together for 19 years. Hmmm,...,math-math-math,...so they were 'together' at 13 and 12 years old?
DeRo's kid is starting to flash up top for Seattle... Nice for him to have an MLS Next Pro team to hone his skills as his grows into the first team.
Would this be an MLS violation, or only a "Leagues Cup" violation? Red Cards, Suspensions, etc are not normally carried over between separate competitions like regular league vs international cup vs national team games. Of course, Suarez' last suspension for rest of the calendar year for EVERYTHING.
Hector Herrera was suspended three games for spitting in the general vicinity of a ref. Suarez spat in the face of that dude with malice after instigating the entire melee, all while stomping on the foot of the dude with his cleats so he couldn't back up. Anything short of a 6-game suspension would be a complete outrage. A season-ending ban should be the expectation. Given his behavior in literally every single game he's ever played and his disgusting history of entitlement and violence, they SHOULD just rip up his contract and demand compensation for behavior unbecoming of the league. But they won't. But I think I figured out what made this all happen.
The only appropriate punishment is to give both Lenhart and Suarez sharp sticks and lock them in a room. Guy who walks out is the winner.
Looks like LA may have qualified for Concacaf. In a peculiar way, I'm pulling for DC or StL or Montréal to win the Spoon because it would preserve the Ben Olsen Double for posterity.
Montreal is already out of the Canadian Championship so they aren't in the running to pull a Ben Olsen.
Right. I mean, if LA comes in last place then they'd recreate the Ben Olsen Double by qualifying for Concacaf while winning the Wooden Spoon. So I'd prefer the St. Louis CITYs win the Spoon.
I think for it to be a real Ben Olsen Double you have to win the hardware, not just qualify for winning more.
Another thing special was that the worst team in the league got to hoist the Lamar Hunt while on the road which has to be a real FU to the home clubs fans. On the MLS wrap-up show they were practically trolling New York FC for losing to DC United.
By the way, over on the MLS website, the big news is that Benjamin Cremaschi got loaned to Parma. That tells me that they probably aren't going to do anything about Suarez. They'll let him get banned from League Cup games or whatever. I'm sure Suarez will be heartbroken to miss a tournament that a handful of dumbshits care about. And then we'll have to listen to @superdave tell us more about how Miami doesn't get preferential treatment.
The RSL fans I interacted with post game were all gracious and friendly. One even gave me their RSL scarf.
