Even if its the B Team, and even if center seating would be more than end-line seating, and even if its only against KSA, its still the national team. So yeah, it blows.
Juventus vs Al Ain well, it was a mess before the game and after the game - horrendous late afternoon and dinner-time storms snarled traffic on I-395 and forced several rain delays at the Nats game - bad, but you can't control the weather, just live with it - instead of normally Ubering thru DC on 395 we had to go down to the Beltway and come up 295 to the Douglas Bridge but then stalled due to stupid traffic routing by DC - we got out still on the Bridge and walked to the stadium - not OK but tolerable Then we hit incompetence by DC United Management - access to Ticket gates seemed like they were cut in half with THOUSANDS of fans still waiting find a ticket line, let alone waiting in line - I do not believe that all those fans decided to get there at game time - still in line AFTER 9:00 and missed the first score - DC United mgmt wants big international games? - their pathetic crowd management of a game that was only at capacity of its modest stadium show they can't be trusted and shouldn't get anything Then after the game DC PD decided close down all the streets for nearly a mile including normal Uber places - the Nats game being delayed so much that it ended about 10 pm or so didn't help miuch - so we hoofed it up to M Street - young farts can put up with this but not old farts like me
Urawa Red Diamond's support against Inter Milan was remarkable today. Shame they couldn't get a result.
As someone who often comes from east of the river, it drives me mad when police shutdown most connections to the bridge or the area approaching the bridge. The collection of local street closures just feel random. I wish they would at least allow the ovals to act as ovals if they want to limit traffic and interactions with large crowds. Don't make me defend United. I'm sure United and their venue staff have recommendations and minimums for hosted events, but it's on event organizers to pay for more than the minimum. It has been very obvious during this entire tournament that while Fifa will spend a lot of money on fields and putting cameras in stadium, they are not listening to host recommendations. How many times did prices get reduced on those tickets because Fifa like Concacaf didn't listen?
I was looking at mlssoccer.com and saw that Miami has a league home game against Atlanta on Saturday, June 28th, then a CWC game against PSG on Sunday, June 29th (at Atlanta!) This seems ... wrong?
I'm sure the MLS game was scheduled in case Miami didn't get out of CWC. That game will most assuredly be rescheduled if it hasn't already.
Your 2025 MLS All-Star Team. Any questions? https://www.mlssoccer.com/allstar/2025/news/2025-mls-all-star-team-roster
Not sure in what other thread to put this, but: I am in Barcelona for my son's tournament and I'm at a store called Football Mania. Think Home Depot sized soccer store. And when you first walk into the shop in the front row, there are shirts from the Crew, nycfc, the metro scum, Timbers, and even new vintage KC wizards shirts. Not unexpected, but no DCU, very depressing considering the others get prime location...
Yeah, I have one. Is it my imagination, or are more people on this "all-Star team" either a Coach's or Commisioner's pick than the number of those "voted in"? Oh, I have 2 (or maybe 3!) - do they still play some random foreign team? Who drew the short straw for this year? (edit: never mind 2 and 3 - totally skimmed over that line at the beginning of the player list)
I was thinking of either Herrera or Schnegg, if Messi League Soccer is having at least one player from every team. It appears one player from every team is a bridge too far for DC United.
