Really pissed that FIFA's Club World Cup has extremely limited TV coverage in the US, while CONCACAF's Gold Cup is on Fox extensively. My guess is that CONCACAF wanted their bloated tourney to rain on FIFA's parade of their bloated tourney. But CWC's lineup is a lot more interesting than the Gold Cup. I'm missing the opportunity to watch clubs from Brazil, Argentina, Japan, Korea, etc that I don't normally have. Instead I'm looking at Suriname, Haiti, etc.
A lot of competition for a limited number of eyeballs, might have to try a little harder than normal: How can I watch the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup? What channel will it be on? All 2025 FIFA Club World Cup matches will be available to watch on DAZN. TNT, TBS and TruTV will also air select games. How can I stream the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup? All the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup matches will be available on DAZN. Live-streaming services are also available that carry TNT, TBS and TruTV, including YouTube TV, Sling TV, Hulu + Live TV and fuboTV. MAX can also be used to stream games on those channels.
It’s taking some time, but Bayern is looking likely to score more on Auckland City FC, an amateur team, than Chicago Fire dropped on us. Per the commentators, Bayern is ranked 6th in the world while Auckland is 4,960th or something.
The DAZN games are free with a login. They just got additional investment that Fifa likes which is why they have the tournament...
Yeah, it’s a shame how things are structured so that the best Australian and New Zealand teams don’t have a very legitimate chance of making it to CWC. I know I’m in the minority but I love the expanded version. It’s fun seeing teams you don’t normally get to watch competitively and there have been some good matchups already. I fully expect the quarterfinals to be comprised of a minimum of 7 European teams, but the group stage has been fun so far.
CWC is a just a horrible concept that has been poorly executed. I'd have paid to see Boca/Benfica, Fluminense/Dortmund, River/Inter, Porto/Palmieres and perhaps a couple of others at $50 for an ok seat plus parking & concessions. I've got no interest in the City/Juve price tag and the matchups like the ones our stadium got hold no interest, match ups of two totally uncompelling teams or an uncompelling team that will get blown out or not get the best best players from the elite team. And if you've recently had or currently have season tix to MLS, NWSL, USL, you're probably more than a casual fan.
CWC is going to be fantastic past this first round. The contrast in styles alone between these legendary clubs who never play each other has me excited. I’ve watched a lot more River in my day than Europe, I want to see how they stack up. Botafogo, too.
The anti-CWC stuff feels very imperialistic to me. It's as if to say, nothing outside of Europe matters. I'd love to see a non-European team do some real damage. Just not Miami. Fück those guys.
The El Salvador fans are really dedicated to their team and will travel to see them, when necessary, to see them live. That's why USA-El Salvador games in the DC area were always El Salvador home games: every El Salvadoran in the area, and many others from Baltimore, NYC, etc. were paying through the nose to see their team live. A lot of USA fans, on the other hand, were content to watch the game on TV, and then you'd wind up with an El Salvadoran home game. The same dedication applies to the other Concacaf teams, as well. I've been to many a USA/Whomever game at RFK Stadium in the past, and they were almost always an "away" game for the USA. The USA fans just don't have the same dedication that the other fans have.
I think that's a very naturally occuring bias with the flow of talent from South America to Europe or SA to MLS to Europe combined with not great main stream coverage. BeIn showing Copa Libertadores/Copa Sudamerica/Recopa is a little off the beaten path for the casuals and EPL bros. The Brazilian Serie A gets less coverage although half those teams are historic AF good watches when you can find them on a stream someplace. Less so with the Argentine Primera beyond Boca/River.
I understand that barely holding on for the draw is kind of their schtick but Inter barely held on for the draw against Monterrey.
Honestly one of my favorite parts of this tournament is seeing the old heads (Ramos, Thiago Silva, Angel di Maria, Jorginho, etc.) turning up for these teams. It’s not just MLS teams that can have a role for aging stars, y’all. Although it helps when it’s not you’re only strategy…
I've seen this posted elsewhere but I don't see him in the lineup for the game yesterday against El Salvador, on the roster on Wikipedia, or on any other listed roster.
Going to the game at Audi Field tonite. How easy would it be to get Uber around there at 10:30-11:00 back into NoVA? Too dead on a weeknight?
Same. I swore he was at least mentioned on the broadcast so I assumed he was playing but it was Vix and in spanish and mine's not very good. But I'm not seeing any indication that he's on the Gold Cup team at all. Maybe he was on the preliminary team or something. That's odd.
Probably not too dead, but still difficult - I've found that waits to get an Uber back to DC from Navy Yard can be long since drivers can see where you're going and you need to wait for someone who's actually looking to go back to VA to take your ride.
