They provide the talent, my man. Those of us from hockey states understand that, so we don't like to joke about the Canadian drought.
How about ---- David ----- Davies Pulisic Musah Reyna McKennie ---- Adams ---- --Ream Richards------- A Robinson ------ Dest ---- Crepeau ----
I'd go with a 4-3-3. Pulisic - David - Weah Eustaquio - Musah - McKennie Davies - Ream - Richards - Johnson Crepeau 6 Canadians and 6 Americans
NHL exploits young, impoverished Canadians, for whom the only alternative is serving coffee at Tim Hortons to hockey players and other Tim Hortons employees.
I like our separate teams the way they are. With time, more Euro clubs will be more willing to sign Canadians. Let's not forget that Barca president turned down signing Davies because he was Canadian, the maple leaf on the passport is still a barrier but we're starting to overcome it
Lol, the tired cliche... certainly doesn't make you sound knowledgeable about this country and how things works here
Based on how you rate them. Nothing serious just something for fun. Pulisic-David-(Canadian;Shaff?) Staq-Adams-Reyna Davies-(Canadian;Cornelius?)-Richards-Dest Crepeau GK is a toss up but Crepeau has looked soo good. You could argue Davies as a winger and Robinson at LB. Could argue for Johnston at RB. I think Bombito has looked really good and his athleticism stands out. You could move him in for either CB but I think I’d take the two options with a little more experience. In form you’d probably take Buchanan at RW.
Sorry man. He does it to us as well. I find it really weird someone would go to another country and try to explain their culture to them.
You don’t have to respond if you don’t want to play along. Not pushing any narratives just curious. I rate a lot of Canadians. If this is how Shaff plays, the reports of 2nd division Spain or w/e are too low. Johnston would do great IMO in Serie A or the Bundesliga. Staq is too good to be sitting on the bench in Portugal or possibly going to MLS.
Canadians don’t seem to grasp that nuance if you look at sports messsage board posts. red teaming it…….. ship is ship. No excuses
Final 4 is set. This is huge for this team as they will not only play Argentina again but will also play either Colombia or Uruguay. Massive 2 games that will help the team grow significantly while securing extra games against top competition until the next window & Gold Cup
Thank God some sugar daddies came up with some $ for us to play Holland and France in pre-tournament friendlies. Our team learned so much in those games. Without them, it would have been a completely different tournament. It's amazing what happens when a team actually gets some resources (looking at you MLS Canada Men's National Team Head Coach Jesse Marsch) This tournament has captured the countries attention in the same way the world cup has, and maybe even more. It's all over mainstream media and it's focused on our team, and not superstars of other countries. Everyone I know is watching and talking about it. Marsch has been an effective coach who has gotten the most out of his players. Bombito and Cornelius have been a very good CB pairing. No one could have seen that coming 6 months ago ago. Shaffleburg has had his coming out party. Alphoso Davies is finally, actually, playing LB and not pretending to defend. Max Crepeau is playing out of his mind in net. Our players, no matter what league they play their club ball for, have all bought in. It doesn't matter if some of our top players have a bad game or tournament because other players are stepping up. The money we're going to get from this tournament is absolutely vital. This success was like winning the lottery. The CSA turmoil was incredible. Finally, success on the international stage does a number of things for our players: scouts from around the world tune in (no coincidence Ismael Kone got a 15 million pound transfer to Marseille shortly after being MOTM in a 0-0 draw with France), our Copa players have the possibility to move to better clubs/leagues and the Canadian player IN GENERAL, is afforded more respect and opportunity due to international respect. Keep in mind, our players were often never given chances precisely BECAUSE they were Canadian, prior to the last world cup. Additionally, there is always the hope that sponsors, and more fans jump on the bandwagon and support the program to help it grow which lead to a well rounded program that does things like host youth national team camps and lures in dual nationals. And the best part? We’ve battled despite never having more than a few hundred fans in the stadium, we’ve won a shootout where our players have green lasers being shot in their eyes when the opposition penalty takers never have to deal with that, almost every single person in these stadiums roots against us, but we just keep fighting.
It's over - the Drake curse... he just bet that Canada will win... It's been a fun ride Drake bets on Canada to beat Argentina tomorrow. 😭 pic.twitter.com/Ra2E3zXeD9— Omer Osman (@OmerOsman200) July 9, 2024
Canada's defense is impressing Top 5 leagues. After Bombito being linked to Lyon it's now CB Derek Cornelius who is linked to Ligue 1 Stade Brest who made an offer to Malmo. He would be playing Champions League football in the fall 🚨💣 Le Stade Brestois a formulé une offre comprise entre 3 et 4 M€ à Malmö FF pour 🇨🇦 Derek Cornelius (26 ans / DC) ! 🤍❤️⚓️ (@Expressen via @NordiskFootball) #Mercato #SB29 #MalmöFF pic.twitter.com/yINRsZ22Lu— Bewww Foot (@Bewww_Foot) July 9, 2024 Canada's back like could be elite by 2026. This Copa America is a turning point RB - Alistair Johnston, Celtic (SCO) CB - Derek Cornelius, Brest (FRA) CB - Moise Bombito, Lyon (FRA) LB - Alphonso Davies, Real Madrid (ESP)
