Shrug. It's just a learning experience for Canada on the path to 2026. National teams at this level ruthlessly expose deficiencies in coaching, player pool, etc. that CONCACAF teams can't. Canada has some good players, that's for sure. They have some other positions in which they're talent level isn't up to par for THIS level. And I think Herdman got outcoached at this level, particularly in the Croatia game. But let's not get carried away with negativity. Did people watch the match against Belgium? The supposed #2 team in the World? Canada was the better team that day.
Looks like all the Concacaf teams ended up about where pundits predicted prior to the world cup. I give a lot of credit to Costa Rica for battling hard and almost making it through after their tough first game. World-class teams can be ruthless when it matters. Concacaf teams do not possess that trait.
I think the Nations League hurt CONCACAF big time. This confederation is extremely weak and removing international dates where we can play real teams has really really hurt.
The problem is that the other confederations have their own Nations Leagues......which limits the number of teams available for friendlies.
Yeah, if UEFA and CONMEBOL wants to give us the middle finger, there’s still a lot of good teams in Africa and Asia.
Asia and Africa still have qualifying for their own respective confederation tournaments which takes up alot of their dates too.
Arrogant fans? Based on what, actual results? Where were you all this time? Sure picked your time to come out of hiding...my favorites You might be too young but I recall the US going back to the US after 40 years in 1990 when they had no domestic league. Check their record... they just got better after that experience, no? Better news, Alistair Johnston leaving CF Montreal for Celtic 🆕✍️ #JohnstonAnnounced! We are delighted to announce the signing of Canadian International defender Alistair Johnston on a 5-year deal, subject to international clearance.Welcome to #CelticFC, Alistair! 🍀🇨🇦— Celtic Football Club (@CelticFC) December 3, 2022 Also interest for CB Joel Waterman who started his pro career in CPL in 2019 1599072649019523072 is not a valid tweet id We definately more defenders in Europe. I like Kamal Miller but Scott Kennedy was missed big time as I view him as the better LCB than him.
Some good news there. Canada and US needs our best players in top leagues/clubs all over Europe. That's how we're going to get better as National teams.
“Actual results” of qualifying in CONCACAF don’t mean much for World Cup performance. if you want to see the silly arrogance look at your coach Re: Croatia.
No need to redirect your "butthurt" vibe here. I do acknowledge your pain... Re: Netherlands Re Re: Hamilton, Canada
Canada surprised the world by looking better than expected USA "meh"ed the world by performing roughly on par with how they've performed at previous world cups.
Canada looked like dog shit for 2/3 games. They started a 40 year old dude. USA performed at a higher level overall than previous world cups from a talent perspective.
Two teams go home with 0 points. Talk about pain, at least all the other fanbases got one tangible result to experience. 2026 should finally give Canada that moment, though, so there’s that.
