So far this summer: 1 transfer to the French 2nd division 2 transfers to the Scottish Prem 1 transfer to the Championship That wildly surpasses any expectations.
To be fair it is for a team that’s in the Champions League, which he probably wouldn’t have gotten in a top 5 league.
If a move to a "top 5 league" team (of the type you're looking for ) isn't available, Brugge is as good of a spot as any. One of the reasons an opportunity was available at Brugge was because they just sold Openda to Lens for 11 million.
Michael Bradley has lived there quite a long time now. (8 years?) I wonder what the long term plan is for him. Its been inevitable for a long time that he'll go into coaching. [By the way, he speaks fluent Italian, Dutch, and German. Enough to give interviews in those languages. The guy is really bright.] And I just wonder if he'll step into a coaching role at TFC once his father retires as head coach. .............................I wonder about a longer-term future in Canada for him and his family. All he knows is that Americans have made him a scapegoat for 2018. [Unfairly if you ask me.]
He wasn't great for Canada in the last window of WCQ games. However, you watch him in some MLS games (like in Seattle last month) and he is just an absolute beast. He's got physical qualities you can't teach and is gaining more composure on the ball. He just turned 20 and has only been playing in MLS with the first team for half a season, that's wild. Norwich are now really pushing to sign Canadian International talent Ismael Kone from CF Montreal. 🇨🇦 #NCFCMany clubs in the race but Norwich want to be ahead of the rest - they were in Washington on Saturday vs DC United to convince Kone.— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) July 25, 2022
I’ve been told York United and Canada Under-20 forward Lowell Wright is on his way to the Vancouver Whitecaps. The transfer is nearly finalized. York’s done a good job with Wright and it’s a deserved move for a CPL player that’s earned the opportunity.— Joshua Kloke (@joshuakloke) July 27, 2022
Apparently Montreal and Norwich agreed on a fee but Kone wanted too much money https://theathletic.com/3456378/2022/07/28/norwich-transfer-news-kone/
I think it would have been a terrible move for him. I’d much rather see him go somewhere like Belgium.
This has to be CPL biggest transfer thus far. 19 years old Aribim Pepple transfers from Cavalry to Championship-side Luton Town. We're in year 4 - see what this league does a decade from now Our ninth new face! 👊#COYH pic.twitter.com/QE5D8hI1xU— Luton Town FC (@LutonTown) August 2, 2022

3 Canadians start and win 3 different Champions League matches today: Tajon - Brugge Eustaquio - Porto Alphonso - Bayern Never would have dreamed of that a few years ago.
On top of that, Eustaquio and Buchanan scored last weekend while Jonathan David is #3 in France behind only Mbappe and Neymar W, W & W ★🇨🇦→ Davies and Bayern beat Viktoria Plzeň 5-0→ Buchanan grabbed an assist in Club Brugge’s 2-0 win over Spanish side Atlético de Madrid 🅰️→ Eustáquio and Porto moved up to 2nd place after a 2-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen#CanMNT pic.twitter.com/1RNtk8uXrR— TrueNorthFoot ⚽️🇨🇦 (@truenorthfoot) October 4, 2022
Uruguay were ruthless in front of net, Canada were not. I thought Canada's play was encouraging. We weren't getting bossed around. We had plenty of chances to score. However, if we're not ruthless with the chances we get during the world cup, it doesn't matter how much possession or how many shots we take in a match.
By the way, weird saga of former CPL coach of the year Pa Modou Kah and FCD/NTSC parting ways after one season.
