It seems like they have other short-term priorities:

The reality is that grassroots sport has been decimated by this pandemic and the ensuing lockdowns, which were, of course, necessary to keep all of us safe. But without a robust, thriving grassroots game our sport cannot recover, let alone grow beyond where we were before COVID-19. This is the reason Canada Soccer is part of sporthelps.ca, a partnership of six of the country’s largest National Sport Organizations (NSOs). We are calling on the government to invest $75 million in a Sport Recovery Program to support grassroots, local sport initiatives as they rebuild and recover from the pandemic. Peter Montopoli

Forge FC coach Bobby Smyrniotis was also getting interest from MLS. A lot of Canada's current succes is truly thanks to him and the Sigma academy he started years ago - Tajon Buchanan, Cyle Larin and Ritchie Laryea were there too.

CPL is definately a well coached league

But CPL is nowhere near the level of MLS not even close but that's not to say that it can't be. It can but probably won't be for like a decade or 2 give or take.

However, coaching development in CPL is just as important as player development. Good to see some CPL coaches garnering interest from "bigger" leagues.

That will only happen if MLS stays stagnant itself. Which it won’t. At least two plus decades. The same optimistic, naive thoughts were had about MLS when it started with regard to Liga MX. CPL should care about only one thing in decade one. Survival and stability. Their general crowds and rev should not be assumed. Just show that you are not going away. Reevaluate after the 2026 bump and upgrade where feasible.
There is a huge difference between start up, survival and real structural growth. Between the MLS Canadian teams and a stable CPL Canada will be fine in the long run. Just takes time. Even if every decision made is perfect, which only happens in hindsight fantasy fan world.
They always see how obvious it all is and wold always get it right.:)

Oh yeah. The guy at Forge should garner interest. After having watching CCAF League matches over the last couple of years it’s clear he knows what he is doing.

Yeah that's true CPL does have good coaching but then it all comes down to players you have in your league as well.

Yeah which is why probably after 2026 heading into the 2030s, can the CPL become a sustainable league? Sure but then it all comes down to also developing Canadian coaches, also giving spotlight to Canadian born players and also developing them but also developing more and more academies but also having foreign born players in your league playing in it too

Hope Jonathan David stays away from Pool. As currently constructed he’d be a 5th option for their front 3. While there’s plenty of games to around I’d have concerns that he’d see enough PT.

Arsenal could be interesting if Auba and Laca both leave. He’d slot in nicely.

AC would also be a good place to end up if Zlatan leaves and Giroud is the only other ST he’d compete against. He could learn a lot from Giroud. He was a great mentor at Chelsea.

I don't see how David would fit into Liverpool's system, other than coming on as a late sub when they're behind the way they use (or rather don't use) Origi.

David needs to find a club with the right system.

The amazing about his time at Lille is he plays with some pretty low IQ players that try to dribble through the whole team and don’t pass to him when he’s wide open. The fact he has 11 goals so far this season playing with idiots like Ikone and Bamba is ridiculous.

So many players don’t give that enough importance. I get being turned by money but the better you play the more you’ll make. Go somewhere that fits your style and you’ll have a chance to play.

Jozy leaving AZ for Sunderland comes to mind. Really hope David makes a smart move for himself.

The most of the rest of the talent is high-level MLS or better. That, the top-end talent, plus Herdman should be enough. Too bad you guys didn't get that Serie A CB to commit.
