Sir Robert, I was informed elsewhere that friendlies have some value in FIFA rankings even when not in FIFA windows. Doesn't sound right to me. Maybe they count outside window if sanctioned by FIFA? Thought maybe you would have some knowledge on that considering your delicate position in FIFA rankings at mom?
They have less value; but, still do count. Per FIFA, weighting of results: Friendly outside FIFA window: 5 Friendly in FIFA window: 10 Nations League group phase: 15 Nations League Playoffs/final: 25 Confed/World Cup qualifiers: 25 Confed final until Quarters: 35 Confed knockouts quarters to final: 40 World Cup group/up to round of 8: 50 World Cup quarters, semis, final: 60 So the friendlies outside the window are worth half a normal friendly

We have until june to pass them I think. I think Soccer Canada will schedule as many games it can until then while El Salvador doesn't do much
With a playoff in the offing, I've heard. Not sure how that happens before Sep when the Hex begins. Edit: just remembered that happens at the end of the Hex vs. #4 in the Hex. Maybe you'll see us again. I predict we finish 4th in Hex
We're going to get CONMEBOL and the entire #4 of the Hex vs. winner of the long and winding road becomes moot.

Alessandro Busti was perhaps the future keeper for Canada when he was at Juventus reserves. Looks like Sebastien Breza might be it if this happens. Breaking News: Sebastian Breza set to sign for Serie A (1 tier) club @FCBologna_1909, only little things are missing, including the medical test... In the first half of the 2019/2020 season, played 7 games for @potenzacalcio, in the Serie C (3rd tier). https://t.co/i2CPvyTcnj— Canucks Abroad (@Canucks_Abroad) January 13, 2020
Joel Waterman from Cavalry will become the 1st CPL player sold to an MLS club, Montreal Impact. Actually thought this was hilarious...If this goes through, the #CanPL will have sold 1/3 the amount of players to MLS in one year that the @USLChampionship has in 12. https://t.co/0FViK9nk7f— Duane Rollins (@24thminute) January 14, 2020 There have been three player sales in total from USL to MLS. Sales. Not teams signing players in a free.— Duane Rollins (@24thminute) January 14, 2020
Historically, USL teams have kept their players on one-year contracts, so MLS teams could just wait until those contracts ran out if they wanted to sign USL players. And many (most?) USL teams are affiliated with MLS teams anyway, and are full of players that have some sort of contract or connection with an MLS team. So, pretty different situations.
Somebody doesn't know how the USL works, clearly. It's not just 2nd teams like NYRB II that pass players onto MLS for free. Teams like Reno 1868 are among the USL teams who are *basically* MLS feeder teams. And while Akanyirige, Cowell, or Fuentes get time in Reno, when SJ calls them back, they're not going to be paying Reno for the privilege.
He's not questioning the level of play or quality at all which he reiterated on his podcast this morning, but the "business model" of losing all those guys for nothing (excluding affiliates, just independent clubs) Podcast that I recommend, it's mostly about MLS
Eh, I guess. USL doesn't seem to be too weird of a model. They remind me of AAA/AA/A baseball teams. And USLC/USL1/USL2 match up nicely as minor leagues. I think the USL teams that are independent (e.g St. Louis, Detroit, Madison, etc.) should be in their own league(s), and the MLS 2nd teams/MLS affiliates should be in their own. Though, it should be noted that the Germans and Dutch have "II" and Jong teams below their senior teams. OTOH, England has its own EPL U23 league. USL is in a weird spot. Most of the bigger clubs have been snapped up by MLS, and competing in the US soccer market is tough when MLS has such a large footprint now. CPL was smart to expand into the gaps in between the 3 Canadian MLS teams (aside from Pacific FC, I assume). I'm not sure that's something the USL can overcome. As MLS popularity grows, not sure how USL clubs are going to get butts in seats.
Now official. Joel Waterman from Cavalry becomes the 1st CPL player to sign with MLS in Montreal. It is believed that he was sold for $100k (~$75k US). In comparison, Montreal acquired Samuel Piette from Izarra, Spain for €60k and LAFC got MA Kaye for $50k US 1217184477710929920 is not a valid tweet id

Looks like the Canadian Premier League are in advance stage of bringing a club to Ottawa with its first foreign ownership. The rumors points to Rastar Group who owns RCD Espanyol from La Liga I spoke to an Ottawa source yesterday and confirmed what has been widely reported: the #CanPL and a foreign investment group with ties to La Liga are in the advanced stages of negotiations to bring the CanPL to Ottawa for this season....— Duane Rollins (@24thminute) January 15, 2020 There is a hard deadline of Jan 31 to get a deal done for 2020. Don’t expect much news to leak as the league has locked things down — “fo not talk about Ottawa to anyone” is the instruction that’s been given.— Duane Rollins (@24thminute) January 15, 2020
