This is getting me a little irritated. The MetroStars have stopped talking about the new stadium. What seems to be the problem?. I thought we were next. We are doing great, we deserve a new place.
Is no news good news? We've been waiting for 8 years now. Unfortunately it takes a long time to get all the legal stuff in order. There is zoning, there is the environment, there is financing, there are permits, etc, etc. A lot of different things to get in order before it's a done deal. Be patient.
I think that there will be no rush for it untill at least 2005 since their least is up on '06 lets just worry about getting to the finals for now
I think it was just the fans that were really concentrating on the stadium last year. Its like that psychological principle, you worry over small problems to avoid the big issues. Its a lot less painful to worry over stadium permits then dwell on a season like last year. This season we have better stuff to focus on. A winning season! Lets see how we do minus Pope, Howard, and Mathis. Hopefully staduim talk won't start flooding the boards again.
One mans guess is AEG is tied up with HDC this month to concern themselves too much with the other stadium issues right now. Let HDC open, show well and then the people standing in the way of these other projects may be a little more open to moving forward.
Last thing I seem to remember hearing about the stadium is the 2nd or 3rd game of the year the mayor of Harrison was talking to Steve-O during halftime and said "We will have a stadium for the Metrostars in Harrison by 2005." Now he may have just been talking out his donkey, or making idle promises bc he isn't being reelected, but if I lived in Harrison I wouldn't mind a tax increase to finance a new Metro Stadium
The thing I like about the LA Galaxy Home Depot stadium is that the goal post is just feet away from the fans. Amazing natural grass, amazing size and amazing seats. This is close to a perfect stadium for MLS and the world.
Looks like the town of Harrison is pushing forward on getting the land secured.... Harrison property owner not going quietly Of course there is much more than just the stadium being planned here, but this is good. Also shows you all the legal stuff that hast to go on to get things like this completed.
