Got to limit the choice to six teams for the poll. Next hot candidate would have been Servette Geneve for being out against Amica Wronki (4-4, away goals)

My biggest disappointment was not putting money on Viktoria Zizkov knocking out Rangers, or Viktoria Zizkov Praha knocking out Rangers Glasgow as the thread goes.

The inept performance---yet again---of the foreign internationals in the CFC line up.

Really, i mean these fukers make more in a month than most do for a year and can't get it up for a game away to a team that they should be capable of beating 10 out of 10 times no matter the venue.

Terry, Morris (when he came on) and Le Saux had the spirit.

Unfortunately there were 11 players on the other side with the spirit to get it up for the game.

Chelsea LONDON.....thats the way the continent refers to the teams ain't it?
Puting their city after the name.

    I'd definitely say it's Chelsea.

Scotland's team's always seem to fold in Europe, don't they? So why would Rangers be a big deal?

A very disappointing performance by Servette, especially after making the round-of-16 last year, beating Slavia Prague, Real Zaragoza, and Hertha Berlin.

Servette and inconsistency go hand in hand. Maybe the opening of their new stadium will change that.

Well I say that if other Scottish teams such as Aberdeen and Livingston went through to the next round, then Rangers should too....

They played better against better sides IMO.

Rangers lost it in the first leg. They gave their all yesterday and, especially in the final five minutes of extra time, had unbelieveably bad luck. Derek Rae: "In all myyears of covering Scottish teams in Europe, I've never seen a team as unfortunate as Rangers tonight."

It's not just me being a fan talking here. They literally have 3 shots cleared off the line in the final 2 minutes, then Amoruso had a screamer that I still don't know how the keeper stopped, and Klos came through with a glancing header that the keeper dived to push away. It was that bad.

Saying that, yes, of course, Rangers should not lose in the first round. But this was not an amateur side we were playing. Some of the Czech clubs have done well and this appears to be one on the rise. Also, considering the way Celtic bowed out to that Swiss lot in what was a lot more significant match (champions league qualifier, worth millions and millions), it's kind of rich for you have a go at Rangers for losing here.

We'll see who's shouting on Sunday.

Im not having a go here, i did that on our board :), I still think the dons and livvy did better against better opposition, but your all out and its left to us.
By the way they were amateur, the keeper is a professional bus driver and basle are playing well in the champions league.
I still think it should have been us but we didnt play like we can in either leg and we paid for it by being in the first round of the uefa.

Isn't this the 3rd time in a row Chelsea have been knocked out of the first round of the UEFA cup after their Champions League 1/4 final?

They really don't like this competition. Put them in the Champions League and they'd get to the 1/4 finals again no problem.

Leeds also got to the Semis of the UEFA Cup and then the CL. They didn't qualify for the CL the next year and crashed out the first round of the following UEFA Cup like Chelsea.

I think the come down from the CL really destroys their motivation, especially having to start right at the beginning, unlike CL drop outs.

Just to clarify this: in the list I had I didn't see that Glasgow Rangers dropped against Zizkov. This would of course be in the list otherwise.

Ranieri couldn;t take chelsea to the quarter finals of the champions league .
He couldnt; organize a piss-up in a brewery.
Vialli's chelsea had flair and talent and thats why they went far in the champions league.

Leeds actually didnt crash out in the first round of the uefa cup .They went as far the fourth round and lost to PSV .

But that's what doesn't make much sense - Cuper took Valencia to the Champions' League final twice using what was essentially Ranieri's squad.

Leeds got knocked out in the 1st or 2nd round by Marimo after their Champions league Semi final.

The PSV match was this year.

For me the biggest disappointment was seeing Cheivo going out. Last year I really enjoyed their fairytale debut season in Serie A, and am disappointed they couldn't enjoy the fruits of their labour further then the first round.

    I can't agree with this.
Ranieri had a great record with Valencia, starting them off with youth and producing some great football.
He wasn't brought in to Chelsea to have an immediate impact either.
he was brought in to do the same job as he did at Valencia ie, take the knees out of any super stars that think they are bigger than the club (which he most certainly did with Wisey) and to drastically reduce the age of the team(which is now 23/24 as opposed to 32/33 when he joined). He was also charged with bringing up youth to replace the aging foreign mercenarys in the squad(Terry-Cole-Forssell-Huth-Kitamirkie-De Lucas all examples of youth in the first team now), which is in my opinion the real problem with the team...not the manager.
