For me, its probably Champions League Final 2002. I have many taped games but only in the last few years and I don't have any classics.
Oranje v Brasil 94 Oranje v USSR Euro88 USA v Portugal 02 Columbia v West Germany 90 Earthquakes v Galaxative MLS cup Final 2001 I have a lot more, just some of my favorites.
i currently only have one on tape - and that's the united-chelsea game from a couple weeks back. it's a damn good one though. i remember there being rumblings of a tape/dvd-trading circle some time back...anyone still willing to do that? because i need a way to get more games. currently, i have to rely on my dad taping them (he has FSW, i dont).
I used to have West germany-France 1982 WC semi-final on tape, but lost it when I moved three years ago. I did not tape it. I bought it somehwhere.
So many.....some that I don't tire of seeing over and over again: WC1958 Brasil - France WC1982 France - W. Germany WC1982 Bra - USSR Olympics 1996 Brasil - Nigeria 1999 Friendly Arg - Bra (Porto Alegre) WC 1970 W.Germany - Italy
sure, I'd be willing to consider trading. As for the United - Chelsea game, I had that on tape and it was a good game, but to me it wasn't worth keeping. I have lots of games but most are nothing special.
84 France-Portugal 70 All of World Cup Brazil matches 97 Liverpool-Newcastle 4-3 (anyone have the first 4-3, from 96???) 77 Liverpool-Borussia MG etc etc
i have all of the WC 2002 games on tape; i haven't watched them all a second time but some of my favorites are: us v. portugal (a must) us v. mexico (a must) us v. germany (heart breaks every time; but damn proud) south korea v. italy (holy smokes what a game) and plenty of others... i also have rapids v. metros from last summer, the first game mathis was back from WC and they wouldn't allow him into the game because he wasn't on the substitute list and pablo got red carded but chung was running circles around the metros midfield and the rapids won going away on a late carrieri strike. brilliant game.
1982 World Cup Semi-Final. Italy 3 - Brazil 2. 1986 Quarterfinal. France 2 - Brazil 1 1986 Quarterfinal Argentina 2 - England 1 1998 Round of 16 Argentine 3 - England 2 (probably the best of them all).
there is one game, that i have not seen but would absolutely love to get on dvd--if (big if) it is available, and that is the 1970 world cup semifina from mexico dtpmazembe mentioned it previously as it is an italy v. w. germany matchup and the reason i want to acquire it so is that in his book Goooal, which i read recently, andres cantor describes it as the game of the century -- the epitome of soccer at its finest, when the game was truly, the beautiful game, etc... after reading his brief recap i most assuredly am intersested in viewing this game at the least, and as i said buying, on dvd, if i can anyways, if anybody out there knows where such i thing might be available feel free to let me know (that is you dont grab it for yourselves you scallywags) later, jbb
U.S. v Germany. Everytime I watch it I think the same things in the same parts. Donovan's wrong offside I get pissed. Donovan nutmegging someone (Frings or Kehl I think) then Kahn making a great save, even though it wasn't exactly hard to tell where Donovan was going. Donovan missing the window where he could have shot around Kahn on his 1 v 2. Ballack's goal and Sanneh's eyes as he watched his mark score. Fring's handball I still get the gloom in my chest. Everytime Reyna hits that blooper I *still* think it's going to drop in for the best goal of the Cup. And finally, the look on Sanneh's face when sees he just missed an open net to tie the game in the last minute. I love that game. I've watched it so many times on lazy days, but maybe I'm just a homer.
I watch the Portugal game and the Mexico game a lot more than the Germany one. It's too depressing! I watch the qualifier in Columbus a lot too. I have hundreds of games on tape but I seem to watch the US Nats victories a lot more than anything else. The one over Argentina in '99 and the Germany one from that year are nice too!
that shot had me on my feet even though i had a bowl of cornflakes on my lap. i still wish it had gone in. my favourite game on tape is newcastle vs sunderland, 18 november 2000. 'and will it be shearer's 8th of the season, and his 3rd successful penalty.... ' 2-1
