Without naming a specific player, I wondered what people though was the number one priority thsi summer. Shut down central defender? Number 1 keeper? A replacement for DB10 upfront, or perhaps an attacking midfielder.

Just taking the pulse of the average ArseAm'er

Having been arguing that it' just as important to find a top class strike partner for TH14 I voted for Central defender! I think we need 4 players of nearly equal priority; CD, GS, GK & RB.

It's the whole package that counts. The back 4 were iffy at times, but, so was midfield covering back and we missed a ton of chances; goals and attacking play relieves the pressure on defence?

If I could have voted four times I would have. IMO, two centre halves, a right back and a goalkeeper. Volz may solve the right back position, but he isn't being given the chance. If this is the case, Carr should be bought from Spurs (We should have been in for Finnan a £3m snip for Liverpool). It looks like Senderos will be one of the centre backs, but a proven performer like Mexes should be brought in as well.

I do agree with this. But didn't it look to you like we were playing to instructions last season? Like going a couple of goals up and then totally easing off? Our main competitors at Old Trafford don't do this. For instance when they were away at St. James' Park, they went a goal down, but they got back into the game they hit Newcastle for six. If we are five up, I'd still like us to be going forward. We've had too many games where we've been easily the best team and then thrown away the lead or been hanging on because we've sat back and invited the opposition on.

Abso-frikin-lutely! It pisses me off! I know what AW's thinking is; if the games won don't waste more energy, it's a long season. The main problem with this is once the team gears down they can't gear back up again and, you're right, we did squander points because of this. Every game should be like "Braveheart" - blood in the nostrils and take no prisoners (I love the smell of napalm in the morning?). Then teams would really fear to play Arsenal; the threat of demolition?

At Maine Road we were 0-5 up after 20 minutes! I'm thinking 0-10, heck no 0-15, could've been history, highest ever top division score, best ever away win etc etc OR would they switch off and settle? We drew the rest of the match 1-1!
