What, if anything, can we fans do to save our Club?

Ive been thinking, we as fans have to do SOMETHING about it.

Just maybe a small idea, but would anybody be up for getting together a little mid-afternoon or evening protest, try to stir-up a little something in the news. Im not ready to let this team go, and I honestly believe we fans can make a difference. I know im thinking big, but a few hundred people could make the papers and give CA really bad press and make Garber look like a fool. Its better than boycotting the games, because we show the league that we have the passionate EARTHQUAKE fans.. not San Jose America fans. What do you think?

    You're thinking the right way.

A rally? How many people can we get?

When would be the best day, news-wise, to hold it?

What about a full-page ad in the Merc?

    A billboard?

What are we even going to say?

"There was a rally the other day that several hundred people went out to. Had there been thousands we would have really opened our eyes and noticed the hidden interest." -- Don Garber on the day of contraction, referring to protests by the Fusion fans.

let's wait until we're SURE there's something to protest again.

but the sentiment of your post is shared. :(

If you want to do something drastic, how about not only boycut the games, but prevent other people from attending the games as well? Like forming a picket line and intimadating other people and their families.

There's nothing we can do. Nothing.

Johnny's been forced out (show me proof otherwise). That's just the first step. Next on the list will be our players. Don't throw international limits and contracts in my face. They mean nothing.

There's nothing we can do now just like we couldn't stop the destruction of our team under the Krapts.

I'm not sure, but I do beleive we can get a number in the four-digits out, possibly this upcoming weekend. If news spreads, the people will come. Even people at school who've never witnessed an Earthquakes game, said they think its a horrible thing and would be willing to help out. Fifteen people whom i've brought to ONE game have become passionate supporters overnight. Lets use this sh!t from Club America to unite this SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES club. I WILL NOT let this club lay next to the Mutiny and Fusion.

    VIVE LOS TERREMOTOS!

Wait for what? For CLub America to buy the team, and then start protesting?

Lets give it our sincere effort to deter CA from touching our club..

And SJQF, a GM doesn't make a club. As sad as it is, we are still the SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES.

Oh PUH-LEAZE people! Stop acting like loyal puppy dogs who keep coming back for more kickins!

What has Club A55h0le done to gain our respect? Why should we support them? Have they supported us? HELL FISHIN' NO! All they have done is stated how they are going to come in and force their name on us. And bring in the players they want.

If I were to have heard something more along the lines of, "We're happy to have an investment in MLS and especially with a team like the two time MLS Champion Earthquakes. We look forward to continuing the tradition of the San Jose team in San Jose." Yeah okay.

But did they say anything remotely like that? HELL FISHIN' NO! They have no respect for our team or us fans. NONE! So FISH them! They can take their club and shove it up where their heads are!

    FISH CLUB A55h0le!

Having dealt with media buys before , a weekday full page in Murcky's 3 years ago , was about $6,500 , things do change though.
If you're serious , I'll throw my paltry $100 in.
Title the ad : " Johnny , please don't go."

We need to let the media know how we feel En Masse. An article about the "enraged fans of the 2001 and 2003 MLS Cup Champions" on the front of the sports page would attract people everywhere.. Don't sit down and let your club be overrun!

for all we know there could be a story in tomorrow's paper that has garber denying all of this.

i'm not going to protest a rumor, which is all it is at this point. gimmie something definite, some actual facts and i'll join the protest.

An actual press release that Johnny Moore has resigned is not actual fact enough for you?

What is wrong with you people? Did you read my post over in the other thread? Did you see what I asked the office about? Over and over again I asked about Johnny because I knew that would be where the axe would fall first! I'm not stupid people. The proof is all there. Look at the writing and see it.

If Garber was going to deny it, dont you think he'd do it BEFORE our GM stepped down and we lost a sh!tload of possible fans?

To read over that article again. It is highly unlikely that those quotes are fabricated and usually Garber woulnd't talk so much about just a Rumor.
Our club is being bought and our GM is gone.

    What else do you need?

Are you waiting for a Club America logo on our webpage?

Once again....I have posted this in a few other threads regarding this same discussion.

We are trying to get a group together that will act as a collective voice. I am currently taking email addresses, and will be contacting the group within the next few days.

The response has been overwhelming, but we can always have more. Feel free to send out my email to anyone you feel wants to be apart of this. Have them send me an email to let me know. I won't add anyone unless they send me an email. Just don't want to cluster anyones email with something they haven't asked for.

If interested, send me an email at tonyhuston@comcast.net.

There are some things that are already a done deal, but our voice must be heard. This is our team, and we need to make it clear that we are going to fight for what we THE FANS want.

This team changed us all from being just fans, to true fanatics. They never gave up, and nor should we. Let's fight for what we believe in, and make it clear what we want. As a strong collective voice, we will be heard.

I'm starting to feel like John Belushi in Animal House. I'll skip the "When The Germans Bombed Pearl Harbor" speech though.

Ringo , please see the forest , not the trees :

Jan 7 : Mr. Moore holds a press conference to introduce Mr. Kinnear as the new EQ coach
Jan 11 : MLS combine begin with Messr's Moore and Kinnear in attendance in LA
Jan 11 : Mr. Garber spews out misery in regards to Earthquakes-Clash-Club America-Aguillas
Jan 12 AM : Anaheim ( as in Orange County ) Angels sign their 4th Latin American free agent - Mr. Valdimir Guerrero , making their free agent spree this summer in neighborhood of $145 m. The news are met with enthusiasm across sports pages around the country , with very profound statements by Latin Studies Profesors .
Jan 12 PM : Mr. Moore resigns.

    Please connect the dots yourself.

That's fine. I respect your need to make up your own mind.

However, the things I'm upset about are already in writing. Johnny resigned. I'm upset about that. Now it's just rumor that it's because of Club America. But I don't think that's all rumor. I believe there's truth in it. You can make up your own mind on it. But I believe it will happen. And I believe that's why Johnny is gone.

I'm also upset that our new owners have not an ounce of respect for our team and us as fans. This is more than evident in that Merc article. There they say they want to change the name and bring in Mexican players. This in every way demonstrates that they don't care what the fans have to say because they haven't considered us in this. As is evident by the uproar it caused when it first came out. At least when the Krapts changed the colors and the name they did surveys of the fans at the stadium. Here's it's just, "This will be our team with our name and our colors."

So the things I'm upset about are in print. And in my opinion, anyone who doesn't see that is just one sad little puppy that keeps coming back for more. And they're gonna get it.

    ok, whatever ....

and if there's a story tomorrow that says the Earthquakes name isn't going anywhere? what then?

don't get me wrong, i'm willing to work to save this team and I think it would be terrible if the CA rumors came true. I'm NOT denying them. Forgive me for waiting a day or two to see what happens next.

It won't go anywhere this season. They've already invested too much time and money into the "San Jose Earthquakes" name with selling tickets and getting unis and whatnot. And the draft is this week. Nah! It won't go anywhere next season. I could be wrong. But make no mistake, it will happen. Step by step they will take our team.

And even if they don't, the simple fact that they have demonstrated no respect for us fans is enough for me. I won't give them one more penny of my money (and that's sad cuz I haven't ordered my championship shirts yet - oh well!).
