Why was Cornelia Corbett never involved with MLS Was she never asked, or had she lost already enough money on soccer Why did the APSL Rowdies cease all operations after the 1993 season
I had heard she was asked. But I don't believe she was in the same league with the Kluges and Hunts and Anschutzes who were the original I/Os. Probably because they lost a lot of money.
Terry Fisher told me also that Dan Van Voorhis quite a lot of money also with his APSL investment of the San Francisco Bay Blackhawks. He ended up getting sued by the owner of the San Jose Oaks local amateur team becuase they tried to block a Concacaf Open Cup match I believe against a Mexican team. I'm not sure how much money he lostin the suit but I think it was around 1 million. This coupled with the rest of his losses. I saw him at a Quakes game in 2003 and he said he got a free lifetime pass to the booth at Spartan Satdium as well as free parking. I believe he died the next year. It was also too bad Subotnik , Kluge and Horowitz fished out of the league. I guess they all lost money but who hasn't when investing in US soccer? I think everyone has. Maybe now there are signs of brighter futre with every owner owning their own SSS. Time will tell. Anyway, still loved them Rowdies!
