My setting was "most recent", I got forum posts on the left, and narrow blogs on the right.

Now I have huge blogs on the left and posts too narrow to read on the right.

I "flip" to forums view, but that does not give me most recent, just the list of forums.

I no longer even see the tabs on the top to switch to "most recent" posts.

What happened and how do I reset it back???.

Yes, please. Ycch. I like Loney and Archer just fine, but sure don't want them on my front page. I much prefer having the forum view, sorted by time of post, of big soccer live on my home page.

I'll back them up too... The original homepage view was best. Blogs on the front page are nice only how that had been in the past.

Not only that, you can't even read the big soccer live it is so narrow, and the go to last post unread is no longer there...

Agree with above. I really liked the HP with the "Most Recent" sorting and with the blogs smaller and over to the right side.

I suppose that Archer & Loney are Things I'm supposed to care about for some reason.... but I just don't. :p

Perhaps this layout is just for a week while y'all are trying to promote using the blogs. [/said hopefully] :)

The right column can be sorted by most recent (bs live) or most popular (kicks). The "read more" link takes you to first unread post. The right column changes based on what you click in the nav, just like it did when it was the center column. We are exploring keeping it in the center column except when you visit our homepage. We can also explore having longer text.

Why change?? Who wanted this unannounced change? What is the sense of sorting most recent if you can't read enough of the post to see if you want to read the thread?

Why not just add the homepage option to minimize the blogs as it was before? Or have that as the default forum view?

Do people care about the blogs? Are you paying people to blog, and were you disappointed in their hits under the old format?

Not a good idea. Going back to exactly how it was (forum post large and in the center) was perfect. It is terribly hard to navigate when it is so squished and skinny on the right. Personally, the banter back and forth is why I came to BS in the first place. Seeing it in the old format was the best way to visually view it all. The blogs seem secondary to me. Not at all what I cared for.

Posts and forums are the bread and butter of this site. The blogs are good sometimes, but usually they're just some guys ranting about things. The emphasis on the HP should be on the forums, not the blogs.

Blogs seem just an ego boost, I don't really see the difference from posting a blog on MLS, and starting a thread in MLS N&A......

I don't read BS for the blogs. I'd go so far as to say I don't care at all about them. Strikes me a very odd choice to make them so prominent on a site whose strength by far and away is the interactive forums.

The homepage is awful. Put it back please.

I can make out zero content of the BS live stuff on the right side; after the thread subject, who wrote it, read more etc.... congestion is all that is legible. And is the blogger pane seriously supposed to be 4 words per line as if it were still on the right? Big huge gaping spot of white right down the right center of the page.

The bloggers don't matter as much as you guys think they matter. We do not come here to read them, we come here to read everyone else as well as them in relation to a thread topic. Quit pushing that "content" so hard; nobody is asking for it.

We come here for the threads, we come here for the threads, we come here for the threads. Bloggers are merely a bell or a whistle.

No response from the BS folks other than to describe the changes? Can we at least get an explanation as to why the change was made? Or is this being discussed somewhere else?

The new homepage is really awful. I thought at first it was my browser as I had played with a few settings, only to realize to my horror that it was you guys. What is the purpose of this?

As others have noted, it could only be to please, or otherwise promote, the bloggers. I could care less about the blogs, and if I did, I (and everybody else), know where to find them.

It's all about the threads. That's why the vast majority of us come here. So If you are trying to make BS worse, let me be the first to congradulate you folks as you are doing a damn fine job on that count.

Is BigSoccer.com really going to stay this way? Is it possible to get a response to know if any powers-that-be are hearing us out? It's sad when the first thing I check on my decreased visits to BS is this thread.

Here's another unpleasant surprise--when you're on the home page and you click this forum, it doesn't take you to the forums, it stays on the home page and just shows the blogs.

I have to say I'm really surprised and disappointed at the lack of response from the BS folks. I've been here a very long time and have never seen them so apparently unwilling to address their own readership about the direction of the site.

Sorry for the delay... I did post, I just don't have an update. We are working to widen the right column so it's easier to read. Fully agree with that. We hope the problem we have with widening it is fixed tonight.

Also, we are fixing another big which is that when you click in the left nav, the blogs are supposed to move back to the right and the main content to the center.

As for why we did the switch - we just completed a user survey with 1400 responses. Let's say, we read it.

Much appreciated. Especially, the option to put the blogs off to the side.

Didn't happen. The right side remained the same, but the blank white in the center got filled in with the blogs.

As for the survey, I think I said it was a good idea, but I didn't think you would put them front and center. I thought the idea was to keep them (provide a space) or dump them (remove the option). I was thinking this to be a reponse to people spamming their blogs. Obviously you took my vote a way it was not intended, so I wish to change that vote.
