Died a rapid death, I believe. Look for it in your local video store soon.

According to www.moviefone.com it is being released on March 26, 2004. Sometimes distributors change their plans.

    Well, that's strange.

    Thanks for the heads-up "rocketeer22".
Any idea why it has been delayed for half a year ?

I'm a big fan of Shaolin Soccer ... saw it almost two years ago when a friend who lives in HK sent me a DVD.

But it's hard to imagine a movie that will have a more difficult time coming across to an American audience. It's not just the part where we aren't big soccer fans. It's also that Stephan Chow's humor, especially the verbal parts, is culturally specific. I don't think he'll translate to America the same way someone like Jackie Chan, with his emphasis on physical humor, does.

Meanwhile, the IMDB lists more than a dozen changes to the American version, including the cutting of 20+ minutes of running time, and editing of the climactic soccer match to remove some of the violence. Since that final scene is the best in the movie ... well, I recommend just hunting down the original on DVD and not worrying about the Americanization.

    And how.

If it wasn't the best $15 I've spent on a movie, it's right up there.
