are you counting the keeper as a defender? otherwise you have one too many i like to use a 4-4-2 with a diamond in the middle and the wingbacks making forward runs
Over the years (20+)I've had a lot of success with a 3-4-3. However I occansionally have a team that can't adapt, I usually then go to a 4-3-3.
I used to be wedded to the 3-5-2, but I haven't had any success with it in CM4 with QPR (they're a bit short on quality Cmids anyway), so I've stuck with the 4-4-2 (A) so far, done all right with that.
I try to suit my players the best way possible. BTW, he didn't say which Soccer game.. FIFA/WE/CM4 or others.
For me it depends on the game, even though I only play FIFA. Each year's game has a totally different gameplay. Some games won't let you make modifications to the basic formations, but when I can, I use the 4-4-2 with two center backs and two wingbacks, and the diamond midfield. I think this formation lets you build attacks either strait through the middle, or inside-out, and it maximizes the skill of a central attacking midfielder. This guy will pick up a lot of rebounds.
FIFA: I play with whatever it gives me WE: See FIFA CM: I usually fit my formation to my players' strengths.
I tend to stick to a 3-5-2 with two defensive mids and three attacking mids in FIFA. In CM I tend to alternate between an attacking 5-3-2 and an altered defensive 3-5-2 with two volantes.
That's what you should be doing in winning eleven, it effects your game just as much depending on what players you have.
In fifa 2004 i use a 4-2-3-1, Rafeal Van Der Vaart and Zlatan Ibrohimavich do very will in this combination.
4-4-2 with the diamond midfield and wingbacks going forward. I also use a 4-5-1 with just one defensive mid against teams with poor backlines because I usually have more quality in central midfield than up front.
Hi all, not wanting sound like a cocky newbie but I know how the formation picking affects a game. The most important aspect of the match is your oppositions formation. Basicly it's a balancing act i.e number of defenders against the number opposition attackers - the one that out numbers the others is far more likely to win in that area. The same applies to midfield aswell. Basic rule out weight the oppositions formation...
I like 361. 3 full time defenders. Two men markers and one free role in center. 3 defensive midfielders. Two of them are wing backs and one full time destroyer. 3 attacking midfielders. 2 wide. one support the striker and has free role. one target forward.
nah i dont believe in that too much. That sounds nice, but in essence, it is only passive. I make my opponent come up with a formation to try to stop my godly 3-4-3.
For which game do you use this? I use a formation similar to that in CM4: 3CD's 3DM's (the wings going forward all the time; the central as a destroyer) 1CM (Think Reyna) 2CAM's (1 with free role) 1SC Of course, I slog out my matches. At or near the lead in defense, at or near the bottom in offense. My teams would be very boring to watch, I'm afraid.
CM3 and CM4. I play with a preventive mentality. I try to win every game 1-0. I usually have the team with best defensive record but I don't score many. Edit to add: I found out in CM the key to winning is to have strikers who can finish. You will get goals dispite not having too many chances.
Well, ive found that in Fifa 2004 the formation matters only slightly, in that it just changes who you score your goals with, when playing with ManU in its 4-2-3-1 or whatever the game has it listed as Ruud generally scores most of my goals and sets up Scholes and Giggs... Strangely though when i play the 4-4-2 Ruud comes futher back to midfield to get the ball and ends up not scoring as much, as he gets pushed wide for some reason.. he still scores but not as much as Giggs and Scholes do... In WE 6 the formation you play is often worth a goal or two and most times you dont score more than a goal or two, in fact there a many goalless draws on the highest difficulty... the formation is very usefull you control the type of runs a player makes, who he marks what type of defense he plays... and his exact possition... One of my friends who is not as good as I am will occassionally play for a draw... when he plays a 4-5-1 system its almost impossible to score and not give up a goal on a counter attack cuz it takes so many numbers to attack fruitfully, however if he goes into a defensive shell with any other formation i can manage to score... I think the flexibility of the formations in WE make managing a team more fun because if you lack a left winger, you can improvise your attack and defense so that you do most of your attacking from the right without leaving your flank open.. or you can do things like own Ruud, Vieri, Saviola and Owen... and have only one sit on the bench.
wekk my proevo 3 formation is the following toldo puyol-samuel-gamarra-cordoba xavi-gerrard ronaldinho-riquelme-recoba mendoza my 3 attacking midfielders basically open up the field for andres mendoza to score what i like about this formation is the fact that my defence is rocksolid and my attck is awesome on counter attacks
