I know we have the first overall, and the fifth, but what other first rounders, and second rounders do we have? I could have sworn we have at least one, and probably two other first rounders. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks (and hopefully we wont botch the picks like we did last year, although Mapp is certainly not a mistake, if we trade him, he'll certainly feel like one) in advance.

I know the allocation we got from the MetroStars is a major allocation, but what about the other one?

I take it "major" allocation means that it's the larger of the two the Scum had -- does anyone recall how much $$ it's said to be worth?
Santa Ray, I want Tysen Nunez!

Who do you guys want with the 1, 5, 11, and 14 draft picks? With #1 - Esky, #5 - Ricardo Clark, you guys think he'd still be around then?, #11 - outside midfielder, #14 - defender for the future.

I don't know what outside midfielder. Who are some good ones this year? And perhaps someone like David Stokes with # 14. He has similar qualities to Eddie Pope.

    Gone

Stokes signed his league contract yesterday and will be gone within the first round and probably within the first five picks. He is not a player of the future, he will be getting playing time this year and may start by the season's end for the team that selects him.
If DCU keeps all these picks (BIG IF) then yes look for the #14 to be defender with a huge upside but may not yet the completed product.

I don't think we can get Esky and Clark. It will have to one or the other, IMHO.

Which is needed more. I would say Clark. Eskandarian is very talented, but if Ray gets a stop-gap for Dmid, then Clark would be ready when the fill-in player is gone. Or perhaps Clark will be ready for playing time.

So if we were to get Clark with #1, Esky would be gone by #5. So then perhaps we could use #5 on one of the target forward like Jaqua or whoever is coming out, since DC has no attacking players who are good in the air, and Eskandarian wouldn't be adding much either.

So let me get this straight, Eskandarian, Stokes, and Clark will all likely be gone after the first five?

A goal scorer is needed more right now.. Having a ball winning skilled d-mid is a luxury at the moment and we just might be able to get Clark if the Metros, KC and Dallas all go brain dead before we pick again at #5....

Sachin is right. There's no way we get Clark and Eskandarian. Since I'm starting to notice I'm the only person who believes Eskandarian will struggle at MLS level (for at least a year and a half), I'd say take Clark and enjoy. I'll even go one further and say I'd prefer Nate Jacqua over Eskandarian...ryan is correct in pointing out that we need someone useful in the air besides Nelsen, and the Dante Washington trade looks less likely than it did before. Clark and Jacqua is not only possible, but would be our best combination of players.

Even if Eskandarian makes me look like an ass and does well, think about it...we've got smallish, skilled players all over the place. Our midfield is the shortest in the league by at least 2 inches on average, and probably 10-15 pounds. Our frontline consists of two guys under 6' (Quintanilla, I'm guessing, is 5'7" tops) and a teenager. Regardless of Tino's size, he still needs time to adjust to his body.

Jacqua fills a need, Eskandarian fills a want.

You seem to be thinking the way I am. I think that Clark is an absolute gem and may not be as much as a liability as Esky. Clark may be one of the few players who can go straight from college to pro, but I still think its more likely he'll need time to adjust and learn more about the position.

And then we could attack in another way with Jacqua or the other target forward in the draft (name?). Like said above, this is possible. Though I will say its gonna suck if we pass on Eskandarian and it bites us in the ass.

If we were to take Clark at #1, would Stokes still be around at #5? If we could get those two then would Jacqua or Know Cameron or the other target forward still be around at #11? If we got Clark, Stokes, and Jacqua, and another pretty good player at #14, it would be an incredible draft.

Even though Justin Mapp was not a starter, him leaving for Chicago leaves us with even less depth, so does the draft hold a solution to outside midfield? Perhaps by using the #14 pick.
