On tues. CL match between Milan and Celta Vigo
Milan had a red, white and green bull's eye in the middle of their kit. On the back of the latest world soccer there is a advert for toffs with a vintage juve shirt with the same symbol. I assume that this symbol has something to do with Italy and their FA but does anyone know what exactly it means and with its history is?

that's right you get that eye with the three
colores of italian flags when you win the
italian cup (( Parma had it last year ))..

if you whin the italian seria A you get the italian
flag in your shirt .. (( like the Juve has it in the
    middel of there jearsy ))

if you win the italian seria a 10 times you get a
star upove you club logo . Juve has 2 stars because
they they won it 27 times . milan and Inter have
only one because they won it less than 20 times

I always wondered why Juve had two stars and Milan had one.

Now thats cool. Finally something meaningful other that a trophy when you win something. Gives new meaning to the phrase "badge of honor" (that's honour to our canuckle friends).

    1 star for each 10 Scudetto's

4 more for Juve they'll have 3 stars..I think MIlan needs 3 more for their second star...

  7. More stuff

The small shield with the italian flag is known as the Scudetto (little shield). Italy's serie A is problably the only championship in the world that doesn't give a cup to the winner. The winner has only the "honour" to put the Scudetto on the jersey the next season.

Stars are used for National Teams also. Every star stands for a World Cup. Italy has 3 stars

actually the two stars on juve's kit indicate the 2 european cups they won. 1 star = 10 scudetttos is nothing but bs.

Source, please? One way to prove whether this is the case or not is to find a good photo from the 1996 final (or any game prior to that one). If there are two stars, then you would be wrong. I'm looking ...

They wear different jerseys for different competitions. The jerseys worn in league play bear 2 stars. Each star represents 10 scudettos.

    From the Guardian in 2000

"Meanwhile, the gold stars on Italian shirts you refer to are awarded to clubs who have won the Italian championship ten times. Milan, for example, have won 13 titles and are entitled to wear one star above their badge; Juventus are the only club with two stars.

Incidentally, if you watch Lazio play this season, you may notice a green, white and red shield on their shirts where their club crest should be. This shield is 'lo scudetto', and is worn all season by the current Italian champions in place of their usual logo."

    From World Soccer Shop

"After winning the 1957/58 scudetto, Juventus became the first Italian club entitled to wear the star on their jersey after winning 10 national championships and currently have the two stars above the original club crest."

From some tourist website about Turin

"The Juventus is now one of the strongest teams in the world . The two stars on its crest are meaning that Juventus won twenty and more Italian Championships . "

I've got a 1991 shirt (back when UPIM was the shirt sponsor) that has two stars.

    This is the source:

The Inter logo has only one star, but inter won twice the Champions' League ('64-'65)....so how's that possible?

    1 star=10 scudetti
    2 stars=20 scudetti

    that's easy...

    Very cool concept.

Having the clubs wear a badge that reminds the other clubs everytime they see their supporters or that club...that they won and YOU didn't! SWEET idea.

10 Scudetti = 1 star period. I remember when Milan won their star for winning their tenth scudetto. Nils Liedholm was their coach then.

If AC Torino could win 3 more scudetto'es then they would get a star (which they probobaly wont)
How many does Bologna need to get a star?

bologna need to win 3 more scudetti as do pro vercelli but pro vercelli would have to win 5 promotions in order to have the shot at a scudetto. ac milan need 4 more to win their 2nd (they have 16) and inter need 7 to win their 2nd. roma need 7 more to win a star.....hopefully they will get their 4th this season!!!

    We only need eight.

By the end of my life i hope to see at least one star above the Lazio crest, but then again by the end of my life I hope to see Lazio still in existance.
