Ok, take out the notion of having your team winning the domestic treble or champion's cup. (everyone wants that :))

What do you want to see happen in/for MLS in 2003?

i'll put something together later, for now i'm hoping someone else will get this thread going

The current stadiums that are on the cusp going through. NJ, Dallas..
Another Uncle Phil joining the ranks of investors.. Bill Gates would be nice!
I have a long list but I'll just add one more thing.
A nice overseas TV deal that pumps some money into the league instead of the league paying for TV..
The league just has that one small contract with TV5 in England and I'm not sure on the finacial terms of that venture.
Getting the salary cap up is key!!!

Higher attendances for the third consecutive year.

Sellouts and good press for Victoria Street in the LA area.

    Stadiums in Dallas and NY/NJ.

Real progress toward a stadium in Chicago.

Another rich investor or two willing to lose money to make MLS succeed in the long run.

Expansion announcement for 2004 including Rochester.

A few high-profile friendlies and solid victories over Euro clubs; appearances and respectable performances in winter tournaments in Europe.

An all-MLS CONCACAF Champions Cup final! :)

More investors with a whole lot more cash.

Maybe a better tv deal with more viewers.

    I'd love the following...

    1. A stadium in NJ.

    2. A new investor somewhere.

    3. For the Sounders to outdraw the Seattle Storm (most of you probably don't know this but that's the local WNBA team). I'd get a kick out of that. Not an MLS wish but it could be in a few years.

    i've thought some about it...

-mls actually marketing someone, they've laid themselves out there for donovan, how about posting his mug in some prominent places now
-mls pushes it's product more, it especially needs to give more money for this to dallas, which has been hosed in this area with no owner
-more stabiltiy and activity with san jose
-multiple sell outs for run of the mill regular season matches in columbus, chicago, and l.a.
-creativity from colorado to remain near the numbers they had this year (no us-mex or women's game like last year)
-notable increases in attendance for most every team
    -increased tv ratings
    -overall league attendance increase
-actual marketing done by the ussf and mls for the u.s. open cup
    -more doubleheaders with wusa teams
-better results from mls teams in champion's cup
-an a-league team in the open cup final
    -announcements for expansion
-new stadium announcements in dallas and ny/nj
-efforts towards a stadium in chicago and d.c.
-better efforts from fans of every team in every match (home and away)
-teams work more with fans to make that happen
-some respect from tv news... print gives us what we deserve... tv people?
    -new major league sponsors
-some new young guns make some names for themselves, make people realize we got a damn good talent pool in this country
-picket lines by mls fans outside of each man-u(re) exhibition game
-a couple of titles for the national team this summer
-more people supporting a domestic club and country instead of supporting the u.s. and a foreign club
    -some coups from s.u.m.
-new investors... for s.u.m and mls
-more people purchasing the mls shootout package (affordable, high quality soccer on digital cable and the dishes)
-increased rivalries in mls... new and old
-no winner of the domestic treble... it's still too early for that to happen
-more hub-bub for the winners of the u.s. open cup and mls supporter's shield
-increased combined efforts from all fans of the national team everywhere
-increased team salary caps, increased salary minimums and increased roster sizes

ONE CONFERENCE AND 1 TABLE!, i am tired of the east and west conference.. join the rest of the world and make the MLS one conference, also decide the champion on points... like the rest of the world... besides that, i would like for ESPN to play more matches along with ABC, pref. ABC because if you dont have cable you can still watch ABC, at least u can in my neck of the woods.. we get 6, 8 and 12 if you dont have cable

1 Table and League Champion being determined by points in the regular season won't happen in 2003...sorry buddy...

    - Increased Attendance
    - Increased TV Ratings
More Games on ABC and ESPN along with the games on ESPN2...Also maybe putting some games on ABC Fam, not instead or substituting for ESPN2 or ABC/ESPN, but along with...
    - Expansion announcements for 2004
    - Metrostars and Burn announce soccer stadium to be built, shovel hits the dirt...
    - Supporters Shield gets more recognition
    - USOC gets big increases in attendance and teams pay more attention to it
    - one of the 4 MLS teams in wins the Champions Cup
    - increased salary cap
    - Teams sign their own players, no allocations, no league signs players for teams, teams has a salary cap, let them decide which players THEY want, not, oh the league wants to sign some guy, which one of these teams should we give this player to?...the superdraft can stay and the rest of single entity can stay i guess, even though if single entity goes more owners would join...Yahoo wanted the quakes but they didn't like the single entity structure, same with a few more big time owners in the past.
    - On that note, new investors, owners
    - Commercials on ABC/ESPN/ESPN2 not just during soccer matches or before or after them, get ads going all the time for the games, and also just MLS Commercials featuring players like Landon, etc...
    - All games on sportcenter, even if its just the score coming up with the scorers listed, soccer highlights don't need to take forever, I'm not expecting this much but you could get away with showing almost every goal, theres only a max of 5 games on one day, you can at least have one of the guys go, in MLS action, and say the scores.
    - MLS getting their soccer TV station up and running before the season starts, more games on TV!!!
    - MLS signing with another station, the ABC/ESPN/ESPN2 deal isn't exclusive, get someone to pay for rights to show a game each week, even a small station.
    - All MLS teams in the US Open Cup

    Future Wishes
    - more teams
    - No east and west, all teams listed together (top8 still make the playoffs, but Supporters Shield is recognized as League Champ, then top 8 qualify for MLS Cup, along with US Open Cup, and champions cup, possible for a team to win 4 titles

    I'll tell you what I don't want.

    -no single table
-no team winning the Supporter's Shield considered
anything more than just regular season champion.
-MLS and "like the rest of the world" being mentioned in the same sentence.
    -no promotion/relegation

I think that's it, Merry Christmas!

    2003? How about 2004?
    http://www.msnbc.com/news/850564.asp
That should be the first season of this young man in MLS. That would be the year after him and his mates win the U-17 championship. That will be the year we watch Donovan, Beasley, Adu et al and start seeing the formation of the coming US WC dynasty we always dreamed of, and knew would be a certainty. Now, if GW stops this maddness and we do not see the day these boys are drafted and dying for Big Oil, all will be well.

Agreed. And I'll add to that list that we the fans do everything possible to improve the atmosphere. And like jmeissen said, more and existing rivalries get better.
