I've had the privilege to watch him in two scrimmages - one intrateam and one against Shanghai Shenhua. On both occassions he played as the left marking back in a 3-5-2 formation. He is technically excellent. He knows where he needs to be and does a good job playing the ball forward. He still needs some time to work out communicating with his teammates. It is impossible to say how much of this is a language issue and how much has to do simply with playing with teammates who he has never played with before. Sigi will have some hard choices to make since he has five quality defenders (Califf, Hendrickson, Hong, Lalas and Marshall). I am almost certain that Hendrickson will continue to play in the midfield but that still leaves four guys to rotate through a three man back line.
I am really looking forward to seeing this guy play. I am also really looking forward to the Korean fans supporting him and LAG at the new stadium. They almost guaranty that there will be a loud enthusiastic cheering group, and with the roof, we will have real "atmosphere."
Amen. Chomping at the bit! I got a little misty last year when the Korean fans were doing their cheer at the RB for the Galaxy. Simply electric.
