tcmahoney's thread made me think of this. I've *tried* bringing a sack lunch to work several times but it's just not my style. Of the times I have brought lunch to work, I end up eating it at my desk and basically don't leave the office all day. I guess that is another one of the reasons I eat out...just to get out of the office for a bit. Unfortunately eating out for lunch each day is rather spending if you think about it. I usually throw down between $7 - $10 for lunch five days a week. So I guess that translates to $35 - $50 a week or $140 - $200 a month or $1,680 - $2,400 a year. !!!!! Crap...maybe I'll keep checking in on tcmahoney's thread now.....
I try to bring my lunch, but I don't like having sandwiches that were made hours earlier (which is probably what I'm getting a restaurant anyway) and there is no good place to warm up food here, and I hate microwaved food.
I bring a prepared lunch that I made at home the night before. One protine, one veg. and one carb. e.g. chicken breast, green beans and brown rice. Nuked of course. Keeps me svelt.
I can't imagine planning that far in advance what I'm going to have for lunch the next day. I gotta eat what I'm in the mood for.
I probably should have mentioned that my wife makes the lunch, and tells me what I'm in the mood for.
I work from home so getting out for lunch is the highlight of social contact for me during the day. I'll usually get in touch with a friend or two during the morning and figure out where we'll meet for lunch. Occasionally, work will prevent me from being able to get out and it makes a big difference in my mood. So, regardless of cost, I'm going out for lunch regularly. Murf
