HMMMMmmmmm... It wasn't the luck of the Irish...it was the luck of the Italians, Latinos and Filipinos. Maybe for St. Patrick's day, people will wear Maroon as they march down 5th Avenue. Oh, and here's my fave. This game today reminds me of when the USA beat Mexico in Jeonju. And you can guess who were starring today as El Choking Tri... THE FIGHTING IRISH WENT TO ROME TO SEE THE POPE! TO ROME TO SEE THE POPE! TO ROME TO SEE THE POPE! THE FIGHTING IRISH WENT TO ROME TO SEE THE POPE AND THIS IS WHAT HE SAID WHO THE F***S THE FIGHTING IRISH? WHO THE F***S THE FIGHTING IRISH? WHO THE F***S THE FIGHTING IRISH? BC KEEPS MARCHING OOOOOON! GLORY GLORY BOSTON COLLEGE! GLORY GLORY BOSTON COLLEGE! GLORY GLORY BOSTON COLLEGE! BC KEEPS MARCHING OOOOOON! OI! OI! OI! OI! So for next year, Coach Willingham, if he needs to motivate his players, needs to show them TWO games. YOUR GREEN SHIRTS DON'T MEAN JACK SH**. ADIOS YOU MEXICANS IN DISGUISE.
Nothing makes me happier than to see Notre Dame go down in defeat. ANY school that gets a major TV network to show each and every one of their games, NO matter what.... it smacks of pure elitism and I am happy to see the Domers go down, AT HOME, to Boston College. There go the ratings for Notre Dame Broadcasting Company ERRRR NBC for any future games
The ratings aren't goin down douchebag. They are still 8-1 and will be in a New Years Day bowl, and they are only gonna get better as long as Willingham stays there. If you don't like it don't watch them and complain on the Crew boards about how much coverage OSU football gets instead. And for the record NBC paid to show all the games, Notre Dame didn't GET them to do anything. But you never been a big fan of facts have you Andy?
I think it has to do with the fact that BU, I mean BC, will never be more than a nit on the big boys asses. Sure they'll infect them once in a good while. Good for ND that they can get the TV contract. BC's got the right to one of the other 200 channels you can get on the dish. Go for it.
Miami and VTech are bigger rivals. It's almost 4am in Vatican City, and God is still a Jesuit. Sorry, nice try Seamus Gonzalez. This time we didn't need a Jewish kicker to beat you at the end of the game. I wonder, will we be on the cover of SI again?
Disregarding your baiting here, hang .... With ND losing their spot for a possible national championship, their ratings WILL go down. And you mean to tell me that Notre Dame was going to say NO to a network willing to show each and every one of their games? It's freaking Notre Dame, hang. They won't join the Big 10 b/c they don't want to share their money with the rest of the conference, and they think they are elite. Don't make this personal. This isn't the Crew boards, so you don't have your normal collection of degenerates to impress with this bashing crap.
Do you hear that wail? It's Notre Dame students crying into the udders of their ugly Smit chick heffer girlfriends. Notre Whore Stadium=Azteca North, the Sea of Green
Call it elitism when the networks come to you if it makes ya feel better. Call it elitism when even after a 5-6 season ratings are still decent, if it makes ya feel better. Of course they aren't gonna say no to a broadcast network that will broadcast all their home games. It's smart business. And because there is no other team in the country who would have that offer bestowed on them, people who are plain jealous call them elitists. Notre Dame should wear that title with pride then because half of the haters are still tuning into NBC hoping they lose. Oh and by the way it isn't incocievable that a 1 loss team is outta the BCS race. Remember last year. Remember all the shuffling in the last two weeks alone? Oh damnit, sorry, facts again...didn't mean to bog you down with those.
Tell me this, hang. What else was NBC going to show on Saturday afternoons? As it stands right now, if the 3 remaining teams (Miami, OU, OSU) win out, Notre Dame IS OUT OF THE BCS CHAMPIONSHIP game. If you want to debate this, fine. I can deal with that. However, stop the sarcastic "facts" crap. It's childish. Again, you aren't on the Crew board. No one to show off to here.
I was at the 1977 BC-Southern Cal game where they wore the green by surprise and killed them 49-19. Beating Notre Dame in the green jerseys happens once in a lifetime. Great things are happening at BC, playing one of the toughest schedules in the country, and still having one of the highest graduation rates in Division IA. BC's hockey team is ranked third in the U.S. Plus the university has cracked the most elite list of selective schools in the U.S. WE SING OUR PROUD REFRAIN!!!!!!!
Something about NBC's coverage yesterday that annoyed me was the timing of commericals. You are NOT supposed to have commercials after a turnover -- doing so disrupts the flow of the game and hurts the team that has the momentum off the turnover. NBC cut away to a commercial at least twice, if not more, after ND coughed the ball up. BC's one turnover --> no commercial. Maybe I'm just being a conspiracy theorist, but can others who have watched more ND on NBC this year say if this is common for them? The NFL would never allow such TV moves.
I also don't like the 3 minute commercial breaks after a turnover. It would be fairer to take the commercial after the first series of downs. In this case, more often than not, all you would delay is a punt. The Catholic Super Bowl is a great event. I would like to see it continue.
Oh boy.... 1. NBC could have ventured to buy other conferences if they wanted to. They chose to buy the rights to ND's home games. That was their business decision and Notre Dame saw the money in that and decided that they could stay independent very easily. ND is one of the most popular teams in the country and typically plays 3-4 of the other most popular in a given year. It works out good for NBC and Notre Dame. Call it elitism if you want, but to say that NBC had no choice but to show ND football is completely and entirely wrong. 2. I didn't say they would play in the BCS Championship I said one loss doesn't put them out of contention, ad I cited last year (yes I know that was a long time ago sorry if you don't remember it) as an example. Given that if they win out they will likely at the least play in a BCS bowl (most likely the Orange) ratings will not drop that much. Especially considering the Navy game is a tradition game and the USC matchup is an enormous rivalry that will have BCS bowl implications this year.
I will say that NBC had LITTLE choice but to become the NotreDame Broadcasting Company, considering their options. The Disney/ABC/ESPN family and CBS had the rights to show major college football and I don't think they had much else to show on Saturday afternoons.
That never gets oldf for ya does it? Maybe you should email NBC, who still refers to themselves as America's Olympic Network and tell them to switch names.
Nah, I'm busy emailing the Dispatch and INSISTING they reduce their Sunday Buckeye coverage from 36 pages, to 34
Reasons Jesus Christ wanted BC to Beat ND: Flutie Magic. Think Jesus's Dad didn't have a little something to do with that? Disciplinarian coach Ty Willingham requested Jesus to cut his hair and trim his beard. BC's QB is a SAINT. The Hail Mary Notre Dame, you are a non-conference Cupcake...Are you Rutgers in disguise? Brought to you by The ConAgra Foods Big East Conference
Let me chime in here.... 1) NBC is always awful with their commercials - there is nothing worse than that stupid guy holding his orange oven mitt waiting to signal the refs to resume play for what seems an eternity in mid-November in a game against Navy in the freezing cold up 35-0 when all you want to do is go tailgate again. But I'm not bitter or anything. 2) Ratings won't decline after one loss. The perception is that ND is going places, if anything, they will improve next year. There's one more home game vs. Rutgers, not compelling at all. 3) Reason #725789 why people hate ND : CBS 3:30 pm everywhere but the SE US - ND-Navy In Southeast US - Miami-Tenn. What game would YOU rather watch. Sometimes we make it SO easy for ND haters. >sigh<
If you are trying to say that Iowa State, Colorado, or Kansas state is ahead of them I could not disagree more.
Re: Let me chime in here.... Wow. An intersquad scrimmage between Navy and Navy Junior Varsity. They televise those?
