What are the top selling vid games of all time?

This would be an interesting list. I have to believe that Super Mario Bros. 3 for NES would top the list.

 

"The Sims" is the number one selling game of all time. I forget whats number two.

Either way I approve. Will Wright is clearly a great, great man and hsi Maxxis puts out amazing and innovative software.

 

As a franchise, the Madden series is tops for sports games in the US, I believe.

 

The Half-Life series has won many awards for years.

I have no concrete sources to back this up, but I have seen numerous stories referring to The Sims as the best-selling videogame of all time - I have no idea whether this is because they count 'expansion packs' as being part of The Sims, which would be cheating, IMO.

Otherwise, as other posters have mentioned, the game would be Super Mario Bros. 3 - there's never been a situation since where a single company completely dominated the market and a single game was so much in demand.
