Just wondering. The part of the post-Dema quotes from Kaspar and Ray that I most disbelieve is that the team is scaling back it's overhaul efforts for the time being. Not that I believe that a another trade will happen in a day or two, as the cap deadline is coming up so soon, but I can imagine the cap deadline not simply allowing us to pick up a player but it might trigger a bigger trade, something unexpected. If so, and thinking that we will acquire a foreign forward for the max salary, we might need to move a mid salaried player to get another max guy. I am also not targeting Q1 but I do see him as potentially vulnerable now that he's no longer P-40. There are other vulnerable players too.

I can imagine now the kittens that I am causing in people.

No facts of course, but I believe Q's salary is in the 90K range. I remember Goff saying once that his contract was similar to Convey's and that's around what Convey made his first year on a regular contract. Absolutely no certainty to any of this. Just the best of my recollections.

But, I seriously doubt Quaranta's in any danger, no matter what he makes. He's the only viable starting forward right now, so dumping him and signing only one other forward is ridiculous.

Convey's raise after the first year was to about $70-$75k, with probably the standard MLS 5% increase each year, which would put him close to 90k now.

I would assume Tino's is very close to that range, maybe not as high since Convey has been around a year longer, and Tino just came off P-40 last year.

More than likely when both of them got their new non-P40 contracts, they had to sign extensions as well. Otherwise Convey would be entering the last year of his contract.

Hmm... I didn't read the original post clearly enough. I see you were talking about trading Santino for the possibility to get TWO forwards. That makes more sense, but I still doubt it would happen.
Tino is too valuable for the salary he's paid, and the likelyhood of finding that much value in another max salary guy is a bit unlikely. Also, getting two more max salary guys essentially lands DC back in the same boat they just got out of.

That's the real reason Eddie had to go.

Yes and no. Yes, they would be at the cap. No, they would supposedly be getting max salary guys who are productive which is very different than last year.

Oh- and Todd- thanks for the figure. ;)

santino salary ballpark is 65k to 70k, by years end he will prove to be worth every penny and much more. to even thinking tradeing this type talent would be insane, my only worry is we may lose him to EUROPE....

Santino is probably making about 50K...which is plenty for a kid his age...how many of you were making that much and living at home...HU? I think all the players should get up to 100k..plus incentives (bonuses) make them earn it the good old fashion way...
