Hey everybody, What did you think of the Field Turf last night? I was pleasantly surprised. Even though I was disappointed with the game, I don't think we can blame it on the field. George
While it wasn't as bad as I thought, there were some wicked bounces if there was any spin on the ball. At times it looked like those super bounce balls, coming straight down, then bursting to the right after catching the ground on the bounce. I also thought a few players caught their ankles awkwardly. Still, it was nice to walk in, and not have your first thoughts be about how shitty the field looks.
Looks like it is a slow field, very soft from my standpoint last night. Also looks like the ball slows down the dribblers as well. Anybody else see as i did from the mezzanine level?
pretty good call about the speed, a couple of the players said it was a slow field. Mgmt also claims the field will change as it gets played on...hope we aren't getting played
The ball did tend to die... ruined a few possible break aways. Nevertheless... I'll take it over last years field anyday.
for those who can take my words as the truth: i was there on the field at halftime, i was the one wearing shades and the field when you walk on it seemed spongy and like lil springs in my opinion; and after the game mcbride said that the field was indeed slow, so there you have it from a player who played on it in a game: SLOW
the game was slow....its always easier to blame the field. there were points in the game that looked fast, otherwise it was a slow game.... the field looks fine....ball bounces true....whether or not its a slower or faster game i don't know...what's important is whether or not the players like the field and how it is on their joints....
Once the rubber all settles (which does happen), the field will begin to play faster, and you won't see as much of it kicking up each time.
I didn't even think about the fact that it wasn't grass until halfway through the first half, so I guess that's a good sign. I'm sure we'd all prefer a well-manicured grass field, but this seemed miles better than last year's disaster. I think we'll be especially grateful for it when the NFL starts up again -- the sidelines were a disgrace.
The Metro game looked like it was played on a natural grass field. Dallas must do something to a least clear the touch down end zone
they showed highlights of that game on the fox sports world report.... when o'brien hit that beauty into the upper 90...the announcer on fswd exclaime "touchdown"
