To those of you who hoped we would lose and miss the playoffs to secure a good draft pick....

    This is terrible isnt it!

Lucid, these consequences are unbearable! What will we do? The club is in dire straights now that we made the post season!

Geeze, what where you guys thinking?

It's easy to get down on a team when they lose their final home game and a chance to clinch the playoffs. GREAT JOB in COLORADO, Wizards. We Wizard Fans all want the best for them, but aren't always sure what will work out best in the long term.

According to MLSNet's breakdown we will face either LA, Columbus or NE. Of course we will know after today's Columbus-Chicago match.

    Who do you prefer?

I would love to see us knock LA out, but maybe we can wait until later in the tournament to do it :D

i would take NE , seeing as we have experience in schooling them, though they are on a hot streak.

but then again...we were on a hot streak too, until the monarcas away game.

    Chicago Wins - They're 7th and we're 8th and play Los Angeles

Chicago Ties - We're 7th, Columbus passes New England for 2nd and we play the Crew

Chicago Loses - We're 7th, Columbus passes New England for 2nd and we play the Crew

We can't play New England in the first round.

I'd rather play Columbus than Los Angeles.

    Best of all possible worlds.

KC gets the 8 seed v LA. KC avoids hot NE, and the defending champs SJ. We do get LA who is playing marginal ball at best. LA always fails in the playoffs and KC gets first crack. As a bonus, KC still gets the #3 pick next year. As the assasin in the draft will be gone come #3, one point guard mid or Jim Curtain-like defender requested please...

2 and out. Your team can't even handle old man Pibe. There is only so much an overrated coach can do with marginal players. The only player on the team that is worth grabbing after Gansler tries to blame the players again will be Armstrong and then you will have no bright spot on the team. Out in 2 and another dismal year of Gansler ball next year. Enjoy.

    1) If it's out in 2, I doubt we'll get another year of Gansler ball.

    2) Last time I checked, the games were played on the field, and I don't remember you dominating us in the four games we played.

    3) Seedings aside, you lost 9 games and we lost 10 this season. See you in the mini-game next Wednesday.

Don't anyone tell him that LA plays more "Gansler-like" than KC does.

So Preki, Klein and Meola are nothing now? Right, way to show your ignorance.

Thank you. LA is, if nothing else, like the Wizards of 2000. A well-organized team with little in the way of creative spark, but a first-class finisher to nick a goal or two when necessary.

Preki has long been one of my favorite players, but is at the bottom of a LONG list of people I would consider trading for. Gansler was proven to be a moron in 2001, but Preki is getting older and slower. Meola is the same except I've never thought he was that good. 2000 had as much to do with Vermes' organizational skill as it did with Meola's ability. Klein... Ah. The only people clammering for him to be the next US Nats player are KC fans. Again a long list of players I'd rather have than him. Good size and skill, but not someone I'd dump a starter for. I'll take Ralston or Henderson over Klein anyday. Unless you want to trade for Albright :)

In conclusion, I say my "ignorance" of KC's overrated players is nowhere near as monumental as your homerism. Look OUTSIDE the farm.

Preki has been slow since he joined the league. The only time you can notice him losing a step is late in some games, and he's always been like that. It doesn't matter how slow he is.
Meola is better than either of LA's keepers, period.
As for Klein and your reference to the Nats. You are very wrong. There were at least two long threads specifically about Klein after the world cup with fans from all over saying he should be getting a shot now. So no, its not just KC fans that realize how good he really is.
If you're calling these three players overrated, then yes you are showing ignorance. The same ignorance that the Rochester Rhinos owner had when calling Meola overrated.
BTW, is overrated winning an MLS Cup? Cause last I checked all three of our boys have rings while Cobi and Cien are still waiting...

Debatable, but inconsequential. All of them have their pluses and minuses, but none are the cream of the crop. Hartman is a better shot stopper and can get down faster, but Meola is better organized and leads his defense better. If they were melted into one, we'd have a new Keller, but, alas, it is not possible.

BigSoccer speaks! What is wrong with Bruce and the USSF?!?! They should just drop everything and do what we say!

There were an equal number of threads last year calling for Lagos to get a shot (and I joined in), but he got his shot and proved himself incapable. Good in the MLS does not equal world class. If Klien proves himself in serious international competition, I'll come back here and apologize for getting your panties all bunched up, but I doubt that will ever happen (both your panties and Klien's explosion onto the world scene).

Oh, and if ANYONE took BS seriously, Bruce would have been out of a job, McBride would have stayed home, Heyduk and Sanneh wouldn't have been player of the match in 4 of the games, Petke would have given up 5 PKs, Garcia would have got 2 reds, Howard would have started and ticked himself an own goal, Cunningham and Ravoz would have cried thru the whole tournament, and you would be commissioner. God help us.

Wow! You guys beat a 4th place A-League team 3-2 in overtime?!?! Amazing! I'm impressed! Too bad you couldn't beat a "top tier" team like the sCrew. Weren't they the only MLS team you had to beat to get to the final? What a joke. Fear the Mighty Wiz!

You're going to repeat that one glowing moment of KC success for the rest of your life because that was the first and last time you'll see it. Keep holding onto the reins of that faded, crumbling, broken down old bandwagon full of Frosted Flakes. You can tell your grandkids about the good ol' days when the KC wiz didn't finish near the bottom of the league and actually competed for something meaningful and won.

If you have it on tape, you'd better dupe it a few times. It'll wear out before you taste anything but sorrow and bitter disappointment again.

    Sorrow and Dissapointment?

Isn't that the street address of the new stadium you guys are getting next year?

    LA GALAXY STADIUM
Right at the corner of Sorrow Drive and Dissapointment Avenue.

Actually not a bad insight, and if LA could bring in the same result as the 2000 KC team, I would settle for that - style points be d@mned.

However, in fairness, LA has had some moments this year where it clearly rose above that. Recent games at the Rose Bowl 4-0 over Colorado and 3-0 over Dallas were good cases in point. LA was dominant, controlled the play, showed an attacking flair, and played very attractive soccer. I do not know if you saw those games, but I don't think you could write off LA as an unimaginative counter-attack squad those nights.

One of the things that has driven LA fans up the wall this year is not knowing which team will show up on any given night. But, I bet the fans of most clubs feel like that. Against SJ, a very strong side, LA did what it had to do to win. At the Rose Bowl, we were missing Lalas and Hendrickson. That cannot be overlooked in evaluating LA's performance that night as EZ does bring a creative element to the game that LA otherwise lacks. At SJ, all bets were off because of the confined field and LA was facing a championship calibre team that was desparate. Ditto in the game in Naperville - that small field does impact the play.

I have several times commented that KC is not playing Bunker Bob Ball this year, but I don't think you can count on LA playing that style either. However, at least in Game One I think LA is ripe to be upset because I expect there will be a major let down after the SJ series. That was intense and had huge loud crowds in both venues, and the shield was on the line. In Game One, we will get a mediocre mid-week crowd and I expect LA will sag a bit. If KC gets an early goal tomorrow, I expect LAG will be in for a rough ride.

Ahh poor seraph. What's wrong. Are you scared? Nobody would go off on anyone like that if they didn't feel just a bit threatened. Admitting the problem is the first step to recovery.

After the game you can go to Wasted Opportunity Bar and Grill.
