That was terrible. Edit: I never get footballers. Like, you in front of the net and all you have to do is shoot.
Breathtaking match. France managed Germany's first goal against at this Euro, which made it a nervy match the further it went on.
Well, at least it will be easy for me to choose who to root for (with France in the final it wasn't going to be ). Although I said before the tournament that, for different reasons, I didn't like England nor Germany to win, I much prefer the 2nd consedutive win by a host team that the 9th title for Germany! Also, I liked better England's style of play in this tournament than Germany.
Basing off the overall play I predict a final victory for England and FWIW my granddaughters both agree. Germany scored all three goals in this match but France often looked like they "could" score. A just result. In this case the dominate team won but it was far from easy. "GOOD NIGHT, Mrs. Calabash--wherever you are!"
And in the end, by FIFA rankings, both semifinals were upsets: #8 England beat #2 Sweden (well ahead of them, even factoring in England's home advantage) and #5 Germany beat #3 France. Ok, if we've taken the upsets' road I am ok with England beating Germany.
I thought France was good in the second half--they had chances but were thwarted by a couple of good saves and a couple of missed opportunities. Good match between two good teams. Germany is athletic and will give England some problems.
After losing to Germany in the group stage it's definitely England with headaches before the final. And not the other way around.
The home advantage is 100 points. Sweden has 2061 points, Germany 2010 points and England 1982 points. England is the tournament favourite and you should support the underdog Germany.
Shocking defending by Mateo for that winning goal. She’s watching the ball and not the player. Simply should not be giving arguably the best header of a ball in the tournament a run and jump start in the middle of the penalty area. I thought Oberdorf was getting a red card in the last moments. A bit lucky to get away with that. France went out with a bit of a whimper in the end. Expected more from them. Felt like they had to go behind to start showing real intent.
Germany - France Shots on target: 4 - 2 Goals: 2 (50%) - 1 (50%) Germany total Overall shots on target: 27 - 7 Goals: 13 (48%) - 1 (14%) France final total Overall shots on target: 31 - 12 Goals: 10 (32%) - 5 (42%) Frohms lost her clean sheet streak through an unfortunate own goal after a thunder strike. France actually had a better than average conversion ratio thanks to that, but managed to put too few shots on target for that to really matter in the end. Going by the shots on target and conversion ratio stats in this Euro so far both were completely predictable results, not upsets.
Yep, I was in an alternative universe. Thanks for bringing me back. Watched too much The Orville, I guess. [emoji28][emoji85]
The 2018 U20 WC had Oberdorf, Gwinn, Kleinherne and Freigang for Germany. With Stanway, Hemp, Russo, Kelly and Roebuck for England. Now they are all in a senior final. Six of them with a very good chance of playing key roles in that final too.
