Former Swiss goalkeeper Kathrin Lehmann said as expert in German TV that it was a foul.

2-1 England. A good strike but the Spanish GK was not really ready.

    A game should finish after 90 minutes.

    Are you a prophet? o_O

Anyway it was criminal from Spanish defense to leave so much time and space for her to shoot! :devilish:

If it were a "game" I would agree. But this is a "match" and that makes all the difference. ;) :D

Is there an extra sub allowed in overtime? Or is that a "rule" that was just experimented with for a short time.

Well, if "head injuries" were the main problem, perhaps.

However, the larger problem in youth football is the long term damage to the developing brain as a result of repeated "small" traumas that result from heading the ball over and over.

I disagree, Paredes leaned and pushed into Russo, who barely moved forward as she already had the perfect position for the header, and jumped into her armpit. If it was a foul it was by Paredes. Paredes perfectly knew what she was doing there though which the extended time lying on the ground showed after she was perfectly fine watching the ball go into the goal just before. VAR dun good there for a change.

The technique is the main thing to reduce head injuries caused by heading BUT most head injuries do not come from heading the ball they come from things like ball kicked into head or head to head or head to ground or other stationary object.

I think banning heading in practice will do nothing except increase in game head injuries.

I wonder if Spain has the ability to play with the urgency they need at this time.

At my age I mush eat on a pretty regular schedule. If this keeps up I am going to be late for my supper.

    BAD Spain. BAD England.

After reading your posting I thought of the Married with children episode where Al sued a guy for hurting Al's fist with his face.
Preventing somebody to jump while leaning on one's shoulder is actually considered a foul.

This is the result I expected but the route to get here was not what I expected.
If I had been told the final score would be 2-1 in favor of England I would have believed it. But if I were also told that Spain would score first I would wonder if I were in an alternate universe.

The "foul" was much like Kevin McHale's rebounding technique. Look to all the referees and if they are not looking down step on the other player's foot and then jump.
If it is not seen then it did not happen.

Jesus, Spain’s skill in this stage of the match is commendable.

Edit: at some point they gotta shoot tho.

Alexandri was a bad sub for Spain: she's not at the same technical level as most of the team and often makes them lose possession.

England is very lucky. That corner was defended... Well it was like it was not defended.

What the heck? Greenwood going in there with her head was the dangerous play.

Seeing the name “Jill Scott” on the back of an England football jersey will never not be funny to me.
