The fact that Norway when down 3-0 still tries to play out of the back... mind blowing decisions. There's no plan B for this coach it would seem. Let's play out of the back and let the England press rip our mediocre back line to pieces... are there brain cells in this managers head?

And he's just sitting there observing, not getting involved in telling the players what to do.

This kind of performance should not be "blamed" on the coach. Although coaches can contribute to bad play they cannot cause a complete collapse like this. There is enough bad play to hit everyone on Norway.

I often think goalkeepers can fix this kind of on field defensive problem with good communication. I think that the Norway 'keeper is not giving good or even any instructions to her defense. Of course it also can be that the defenders do not listen to the 'keeper.

Am I reading this scoreline correctly? Aren't Norway supposed to be like.... good?

Well, Thorisdottir not playing well isn't news for United fans/viewers. Boe Risa's first start in a while for Norway (at least according to Google) is going badly, and Earps has had nothing to do. Russo and Toone coming on in the second half will be the only remaining interest from a United perspective.

I believe that "watching" is exactly what a coach should do during matches. I believe that coaches running up and down the sidelines yelling and trying to effect play just shows that they did not do their job in practice. What the coach should have done is replace at least two of the defenders and give the new ones instructions to try and fix the problems.

Bad coaches yell and good coaches coach.

Norway is NOT defending in the second half either. They are just watching and waiting and reacting which is a recipe for even more disaster.
At least yesterday Italy came out in the second half and played defense. That allowed them to give up no more goals and even score one.

I watch Emma Hayes do it all the time. Especially when you saw in covid times and no fans you can hear her giving instructions by yelling or shouting. She a bad coach? I don't know.

Kind of but coaches can be yellers and still win. It is, after all, the players that play the game not the coaches, as much as those of us that coached at any level believe that we should be playing not coaching. ;)
Maybe her players do as mine often did when I got up and started yelling. They just did what they thought was the right thing and mostly ignored me.
The speed of play, even as young as U13 or14, is such that by the time a player hears an instruction, processes it and acts on it the situation is usually changed to the point where it is too late to implement the direction.
If a coach really needs to make an adjustment they should do it when the ball is not even near the player(s) to be instructed.

Norway is playing a little better defense in this half but England is also playing, just a bit, to avoid injury.

    What the heck?
Norway continues to play out of the back even though England has shown that they can win a lot of balls from the stupidity of that action but Norway just continues.
It is said that "doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is a good sign of insanity," Is Norway insane?

Norway never plays this badly---this is completely atypical--and indeed they were having the better of play before the crap PK all and first goal. I suspect that rattled Norway; how much is impossible to say. Maybe they would still have been exposed without the PK call--probably so, on evidence of what we've seen since!--but PK do change games and I doubt it's a coincidence that England scored 3/4 times with minutes of the first goal. Hey, you have to keep your composure, and one has to think that Norway didn't--at all! Either that or their defenders are just terrible. Bauser could fill us in on what's happened to Norway.

Now all the English players think they can score. At least Norway is giving England some shooting practice.

Isn't Bauser our resident Norway expert? Maybe he can weigh in.

I thought this was going to be a good, tight game. Norway have two world-class players up front, and a couple of other good players as well, but the team just completely fell apart after the first goal.

England replaced one long haired pony tailed blond with another nearly just like her. Do they have a cloning facility somewhere that turns these out several times a year?

8-0 and this is absurd. England just won't stop, and that is good for them.
