Poch said something similar about him - can't make him stay in one spot just have to let him feel where he needs to be (something like that). Wonder if he and Spalletti have discussed this and are going to use him the same way? Could even be why he wasn't called up that one window after the Spalletti took over so he could nail his role with Juve.
🚨🇺🇸 Juventus director Ottolini on Weston McKennie out of contract in June: “We are very happy with McKennie, he is doing well. We are in negotiations over new contract”.“He’s a player of great quality and can play many roles well. His numbers are impressive”. pic.twitter.com/Vd24PNYLUJ— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) February 10, 2026
possibly worth noting that Juve announced an extension with Yildiz yesterday. Next season he and David will be the highest paid players, each making €6m net + incentives. Other press outlets confirm that the next priorities are Mckennie and Spalletti. Honestly, replacing Vlahovic's salary spend with Yildiz + Mckennie + Spalletti is a good deal for Juve.
He's getting half of what Vlahovic is on. And, again, Vlahovic HAS produced goals, but definitely not at a rate that's worth more than Locatelli + Gatti + Bremer
Amazing he got such huge wages by just a goalscoring run in one season. You'd think they'd want several more years of consistency before dropping the big bucks.
As documented here and on their fan forums their spending was awful and reckless the prior few windows. The latest flop is Koopmeiners, who hasn't scored a goal since last April. At least with Vlahovic when healthy he was capable of scoring on a fairly regular basis, even if he's a bit limited otherwise. David seems to like passing around the goal rather than shooting into it. Sorta a bad habit for a striker.
You're 100% right that the backend of his contract is ridiculous but to clarify. He scored 8 goals for Fiorentina in ~1400 minutes @19 y/o, scored 21g @20 y/o, following that up with another 20 goals in half a season before transferring to Juve for the remainder of 21/22. It was looking like Juve signed the best young CF that wasn't Erling Haaland and would be there for the next 10 years.
I dunno, I always liked Vlahovic. I like that slavic arrogance and swagger. I think he just got alot of crap because he was so damn expensive. I think he's a way better goal scorer than David, but David is a better all round player than Vlahovic. When he is confident and kickin, Vlahovic can be a veryy prolific goalscorer. I also thought he and McKennie developed some nice chemistry for several seasons.
---------Vlahovic----David--------- Yildiz--------------------------McKennie ----------Thuram----Loca-------
Would be somewhat ironic if, finally Juve gives him some respect and offers him a cushy multi-year contract that he decides, nah, I'll try my hand elsewhere. He doesn't really owe Juve anything at this point
I wanted him at Juventus after seeing this goal. Didn't know if he would ever end up at Juve, but I was in awe with this goal at 19 years old.

If McKennie getting shoved in the back and falling to the ground against Inter in the penalty area isn't a pk then I don't know what is.
