Western Conference Champs???

So who is the Western or Eastern Conference Champ.
The one that goes go to the MLS Cup or the one that ends on the top of the table at the end of the regular season.

If KC goes tothe MLS Cup are they going to be the Western Conference Champs or Chivas USA are?

Officially = THe one that goes to the MLS Cup final.

In my book = Chivas USA.

Given the new playoff setup, they should simply change the rules and make it the regular season winner is the team that can declare themselves "conference champion". There's certainly nothing wrong with Chivas USA saying they are the conference champ and it's similar to what is done in other sports anyway (in particular, MLB seems to highlight division championships, which is the equivalent).
