(somebody help me with the right link)
This guy has all of anyone's dream of being a Soccer player. Heck! Being a soccer fan and watching this guy Live on TV is already a privilege. I mean my addiction to "The Mother of all Sports" really gets higher.
Don't get me wrong, if the baby born in Ghana gets close to the guy above. I will see a new religion born in the U.S. (this is my second dream) with millions of followers and new converted. Baseball, NFL, NHL, will be as always Elite sports. With less followers that Jim Jones(?) (remember Guyana's).
When the Soccer ball hits the ghettos or innercity, when no longer is a Mom-take-me to the soccer field...and the kids getting together for a match in any backyard after the first world cup being on display at the White House or through the streets of NY. CHI. LA. ... then maybe I will die in peace.
Oops! I just pressed my FastForward and move ahead too far in the book of my life. Thank you for reading this...

Sounds like he needs to add some weight and learn to pass -- lest he dribble into oblivion. :)

P.S. Adu is already a master of the calculated pass.
Perhaps we shall see a match-up, some day, soon?

umm... i don't think anyone actually think he's gonna be the next pele... but you know what. He is as good as he is and is ONLY 13!... i say he's got 5+ years to get up to the level as that dude in the link. i'm not saying he's gonna get there. but its a possibility and he'll at least come close! We don't really need him to be the next pele, we only need him to take us to the semi-finals and HOPEFULLY the finals. and from there we'll just see what happens.

If Adu has as much skill like this Robinho, then let's talk... But I haven't see Adu play so I can't make a judgement... But if he's as good as you say he is we'll see...

But don't get to excited you people said the same about Donovan and look where he's at..

he was a 21 year old starter on a team that made it to the quarterfinals of the world cup....better than Veron and Batistuta. :)

Not to mention scoring 2 goals, causing an own goal, and having one called back on a bogus call.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA! Very funny....

Good try though... But not much can be said, I mean a 1 goal scorer like Batistuta only went from Roma to Inter Milan... Veron only plays for the crappy team Manchester United... Aimar only led those band of amatures at Valenica to that meaningless title in LA LIGA... Saviola sucks so bad he plays for Barcelona of Spain... D' Alssandro is such a bad player that Lazio wants him!

Dear god how could have I ever thought that the GREATEST PLAYER OF ALL TIME Landon Donovan has only underachived, at where he should be AT THE CLUB LEVEL! I mean the San Jose Earthquakes! Now that's a club players all over the world dream of playing for! and 3 good games that ironicaly happened at the world cup, dosen't make donovan a legend! I mean look at his greatness against Argentina only 2 months ago! Such class and skill, for the only 3 times he actually touched the ball, rather than get air time for crying over the fact that players of such low caliber were smacking his team (USA) like if they didn't get to the rd of 8 at 2002! Of course the USA on their part made it to the rd of 8, much better than the 2 WORLD TITLES ARGENTINA has earned...

Your right what the hell was I thinking!

    If Adu is Pele

    Then Donovan must be god!

    EL MONO = EL LOCO

The point is: What were Veron and Batistuta doing for club and country at age 20-21? Now compare that to what Donovan is doing now.

calm down... i don't think anyone said that donovan is better then anyone else... he's just good. however... adu is 13...13!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so thats 8 years to get to the point that donovan is now... or 6 years to get where your lil dream boy is at... when people are saying he's gonna be the next pele, they mean that he's gonna be really good! i don't think anyone expects him to actually be as good as pele. althuogh you still gotta keep in mind that he's 13!!!! 13!!!!!!!. he's already good enough as he is right now... imagine what he will develop into...at least thats what we hope will happen.

    Robi versus Adu

I'm so glad, glad, glad, that people are talking smack, comparing their young potential superstar to ours - when ours is four years younger - and American! I mean, come on, did any Brazilian alive imagine that they'd ever be arguing about whether thier best prospect was comparable to an American? Admit it - the apocalypse is upon us.

Also, I think that should be the name for the next MLS soccer team. The Apocalypse.

I think its great that the Brazilian kid is getting major pub....I hope he continues to do so, as Freddy sneaks up on his rear...

Freddy has the greatest potential of any US kid ever...he has as good an attitude as one can expect (given the accolades/hero worship)...he is as talented as anyone 16 and under in the world..he has a very good support system too.

He is going to be a great, great pro player...only he will likely stop how great he can ultimately be...if he maintains Tiger, Kobe, Jordan-like focus, he will be a superstar in Europe and possibly lead US to a final before his career is over...and maybe more-g

Well, I just got back from a football-watching vacation in Brasil, and I have been fortunate enough to have seen Adu play in person on two occassions in the last 6 months.

Someone said, "this brasilian dude," and feels he is qualified for an opinion. In Brasil, Robinho is admired by even the opponents' supporters, ask a Corinthian or SP. They firmly admit that he is a man among boys in the league. I know you Americans are skeptical when a 128 lb. player is hailed as the best in Brasil, but it is true. Why do Americans think there is need for lifting weights in football? Sure, he could do a few extra pushups and eat better, but...

You just have to see Robinho play, and you will marvel at him as well.

Oh, as to comparing Adu and Robinho? Well, the player Adu reminds me of is Jay Jay Okocha, the Nigerian, but with a faster burst and (far) more dangerous near goal than Okocha.
Robinho, he reminds me more of a Denilson that is less hesitant and also far more hungry around goal, and far faster.
Both Adu and Robinho raise the eyebrows ultimately because they simply score and score.

Unless he decides to squander away his talent in MLS like a certain un-named player who's initials are LD.

The kid is 13 years old! 13! I've heard these same rants before over Donovan and DMB... And both are in MLS today, and both are playing minimal roles on the National team, w/ Donovan taking up much of the news for flashes of brilliance rather than leadership potentinal.

I can see how people here would say Adu can be great player ect... but to say he's good as Pele, and can carry the US to a world cup is ignorant... For your 1 Freddy Adu, Argentina, Brasil, Holland, and the rest of the world are producing players with these same skills by the tens, hundreds, and thousands....

TIME TO WAKE UP!!!!!! The rest of the soccer world WILL NOT take a break and just let Freddy Adu progress... There are players we haven't even dreamed about playing in some reserve team in Brazil or Argentina... The US can produce a GREAT player, but they also must produce the ones that will accompany this great player and THERE is what US soccer is lacking...

calm down el mono, adu is not the next pele, he's just the next adu. and if you think the u.s. is not producing players to accompany him on the field, you must not be paying attention. the ussf is doing a good job in that regard, and getting better.

furthermore, get accustomed to u.s. players choosing to stay in the u.s. rather than going to those big-name teams you mentioned before. l.d. has done it, and while other players like spector will excitedly sign with man u., i expect that we'll see some follow l.d.'s lead and stay at home. that's just the way it's gonna be. deal with it.

I've seen Santos several times in La Copa Libertadores and both Robinho and Diego are the real deal. Robinho has an unbelievable first step of acceleration. Diego just has a great field pressence. The consummate No. 10.

That takes everything you people have just said about ADu and Donovan and throws it into the trash...

It's Plain and Simple.... To be the best you gotta play w/ the best, and MLS is NOT the best! PERIOD!

Is like to hit your head against the wall, trying to say them how stupid is to compare Donovan with Batistuta and Veron, and saying this guy is better ... For our own health, don´t read what these yankee-shite says, remember they hate Argentinians, they will never appreciate the glory of Argentinian football.
Holy crap!!, poor Batistuta and Veron...what a lack of respect and appreciation. Specially for Batistuta, the biggest goaler of Argentina so far...look what all these people says, everything yank is ************************.
And isn´t Freddy Adu an foreigner? Was he born in USA, so what an "US idol"

What is thrown in the trash is the statements you people make that MLS is good enough for your "worldclass" players... That there is no need for them to go abroad and play w/ the best because they, like in Donovan's case, can stay in MLS and be pampered..... Donovan is in MLS because he failed in Germany! Period...

US players like JOB, Reyna, Keller, are as good as they are because the play w/ and alongside world class players at a world class level....

My whole damn point is that I'll belive this whole US soccer takeover when US players start going abroad from MLS and suceed away from home.. When the national team starts winning Copa America's and Consistantly prove themselves at the World Cup, rather than do well like in 2002 only to repeat a 1998 like showing four years from now! Am not crazy! I don't ask MLS to be the best league in the world, just one that can feed players to the best teams in the world, like Brasil, and Argentina...
When I see MLS and the US national team doing all of this then I'll shut up! Until then it's all just "good runs" that's it!

And to end my Adu point... Adu maybe the USA's next fantasy, but that dosen't mean other countries won't produce better players... There's a kid in Peru who at 15 is doing wonders, let's just see where these wonder boys wind up, in Valencia like Aimar or in MLS like Donovan...

    Agreed Thriller...

Let's just see if Donovan by the time he gets Bati's age is playing for a world class team like Inter Milan, or has a statue in front of a stadium like el Bati has in Florence...

Or if a team like Man U will break the bank ($45 Million) to by him like they did Veron.

Did Argentina make the second round this World Cup? Hmmmmm, and you're ripping on USA for being a dud and then IMPROVING to a quarterfinal finish? It seems that the only team who does consistantly well is Brazil...maybe Germany.

Dude, are you still pimping 1986? Michael Jackson was black then!

    Million billions!

Who said "he's good as Pele"? You're the one making up stuff here.

Follow your own advice. US Soccer is the fasting rising national team program in the world. I'm happy for you that Aimar is playing for Valencia, but it doesn't seem to be helping Argentina does it? Maybe if Aimar played in MLS he could have scored 2 goals in the World Cup like Donovan did. :D

You're totally wrong, again. The only people that knew about Donovan when was 12 (which Freddy was when he started getting attention) were select coaches in Southern California.

Mono, chill out. No one is saying Donovan is better than Batistuta, Aimar, Veron, Lopez, Ariaga, Ariaga II, or any of the other Argentines who made up that pathetic excuse for a World Cup team in 2002. Some of us were merely pointing out that LD, while slumming it up in MLS, scored twice as many goals in the World Cup than any Argentine. The US also made it to the quarterfinals, while Argentina didn't advance out of the first round.

Go wack off to your BETA copy of cokehead Maradonna winning the World Cup for Argentina 17 years ago and enjoy what will never occur again.

Say all the crap you want! My team of duds, and poor and pathetic country has 2 world cups... the GREATEST cokehead of all time, and one of the most important soccer institutions in the world River Plate... And that's still not to metion the passion for soccer the USA can only see on Direct TV, because there are only the players family members at MLS games! And my band of scrubs till kicked the s#%$ out of the USA in Febuary!
