LA announced they're switching to dark blue or black shirts this year. We're back to being the only yellow team in MLS again. Hooray for Beckham!
Leave it to Alexi Lalas to be the league's resident dumb@ss. The planets that make up a Galaxy shine white or yellowish. I could have understood them changing their logo, but they were starting to build some tradition with the sash and the green & gold. Whatever, it's not my team, and I'm glad we're not pretending to be the "crown jewel/superclub" of MLS.
Im going to miss those jersey's. I actually liked the color combination. Correct me if Im wrong and I probably am, but arnt those jerseys the most like the originals that any team still uses?
I knew I was wrong. Thanks for the correction, for some reason I over looked DC But their jersey's arnt as nice to look at as LA's, maybe thats why I forgot about them.
If by original, you mean most similar to the 1996 jerseys, not at all. Crew and DC are probably the most similar to the inaugural season. For fear of the massive amounts of negative rep that would come my way if I posted the picture, http://www.kenn.com/soccer/mlskits/index.html has a picture of the 1996 uniforms.
Wow, I knew I had to be wrong. How I miss those clown costumes. Nice and colorful. Does anyone know when we are getting the Tampa Bay Mutiny back in the league so we can have a Carlos Valderrama wig night at a crew game?
Wow - all of those uniforms (except Columbus and DC) are just absolutely hideous. I'd forgotten how hideous until just now, in fact. Thanks
So LA is taking the uniforms from Colorado, and what's Colorado doing? Going back to green? What the hell is the point of these shenanigans? Did LA honestly need to go and re-brand, right now? I feel sorry for the little Beck-heads that went out and already bought a Beckham shirt in the old colors. Then of course, we all know that Alexi is just a greedy moron. I mean, go ahead and leverage the Beckham name for a whopping $130 open-tryout fee. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=400372&cc=5901 I can understand not wanting to get swarmed, but how is some unnoticed talent going to afford that, when most people that are willing to shell out the $130 were probably part of club teams and such since their fams could afford it (big assumptions I know, but I'm illustrating that poorer folks are automatically out of these tryouts).
Not nessecarly, did you happen to see Goal! The Dream Begins? It told the story of a poor lad from LA who had just enough skill and determination to make it to the Premiership. So it is possible, even with with these $130 fees that the Galaxy will be charging. And besides, the cost of living is higher in California than Columbus. Sounds about right to me.
I think Colorado's new uniforms are more claret and blue now. There are pictures floating around BigSoccer.
This is a really common practice and not all that expensive. Many pro baseball teams do this same sorta thing and almost at the same rate. I'm not to concerned about poor people missing out, like you bleeding heart liberals.
I actually like those new jerseys as well as their new logo. Way to include the 96 in the crest, . . Where's 96er to comment on this when you need him?
Just remember, if you're an American Legion player make sure you get your post commander's written permission before trying out. That was a standard sentence when the Reds would announce their open tryouts on the radio.
Watching Sportcenter this morning (I think it was a rerun from last night.) when they showwed 2, count 'em TWO, soccer goals as top ten plays of the day. One was Wayne Rooney, but the other was some guy from Villarreal scoring against Real Madrid. Villarreal was wearing all yellow kits which the announcer said was a great uniform. Go ALL YELLOW jerseys.
