http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/sport/football/articles/5192998 Well not exactly. But it does look somewhat promising for our financial future.
The corrected list Real Madrid £180m Man Utd £148.1m Juventus £139.3m Bayern Munich £125.7m Milan £115.5m Chelsea Village £115m Barcelona £105.7m Roma £102.7m Liverpool £99m Arsenal £91m Internazionale £89.8m Leeds £81.5m Lazio £80m Dortmund £73.1m Newcastle £70.9m Tottenham £65m Leverkusen £57.1m Celtic £56.9m Aston Villa £46.7m Rangers £44.8m Chelsea football club would be somewhat further down the table.
Clann--further down than Aston Villa? Or just further down from being in the top 10? I have a feeling that those numbers are not completely accurate. If they are anything like the way they are done over here, lots of revenue gets hidden from the tax man by having it not shown directly on the club's books. Helps when negotiating players' salaries to be able to claim you are making less money.
I Remember this was done last season as well and Chelsea-or CV to be exact-were considered the 4th richest club in the world. It was/is all very misleading however. For starters it does not show any net profit amounts for any of the clubs, rather, it gives the gross income. This of course being any and all money that came into the clubs coffers. That doesn't necessarily equate to a healthy or even profitable situation. This is proven to no end with the case of CFC/CV. The vast empire that Bates has built is quite large with its nightclubs, restaurants, hotels, bars health clubs, travel agencies etc etc etc has all it's income lumped into the earnings of "Chelsea". If i remember right the actual amount that Chelsea took in from a football point of view was about 76 million last season.Again, of course, these are all gross figures and all subject to great speculation. As anyone who has been following Chelsea in recent years will tell you, geting a straight answer out of Bates regarding the financial matters that is whole truth is like looking for the holy grail.

And I was thinking well, Chelsea are also very limited by the restrictions placed upon them by the council and they are “handicapped” or rather capped in terms of crowd attendance. Games gainst Man U could easily fill a 60,000+ stadium. Chelsea has a HUGE fan base throughout London and the south of England. Just saying. Yeah it is ONLY revenues, still they’re pretty good revenues non? A lot of people are buying in, and once we all weather this bad economy, and the “teething” problems of some of our new business ventures, who knows how well we’ll be doing 4-5 years from now eh? I think one has to have a little optimism sometimes.
The fact that we are still around alone is qyite a step from the days when Cabra went belly up and the Bank of Scotland actually owned the club. Massive strides have been taken since then-no doubt. The problem is the way in which we took those steps. The day of judgement will be at hand in 2007, and God help us if we can't meet that Euro Bond repayment. Although i think one would be a fool to think that Bates has any intention at all of trying to repay it as there has been no monies put aside for this repayment, rather, the monies have been sunk into the club and it's various other off field interests. No, i believe, as many others do, that he will try and somehow refinance the whole deal. There is simply no way that we could make that repayment now, even if he was totally committed to doing so. The vast amounts of money that would have to be put aside each and every week simply are not there if we are to keep running the club as it is today. Written in 1999 Thru march 2003 As you can see the only difference is the amount of loss Someday soon, and it's going to be real soon i think, the whole idea of Chelsea Village is going to have to be looked at in a fresh light. Perhaps that day will only come when ol Ken has passed on, who knows? I just hope we still have a quality football club left when that day arrives. But, in reality, i look back upon 2 thinks that saved the club during the dark and forgotten (new fans wise anyway) days of the 80's when we spent more time in the lower division than i care to remember. #1 the away win in the last away game of the season against Bolton. #2 Ol Kenny decided that by hook or by crook he was going to save Chelsea FC.
